Goat James
We have gone 4-7-4 this past month, atrocious record. But if you take into concideration that only eight (8!) goals have been scored without a Sedin having a point on them it's even more alarming! We've only got six players with ten or more points (Sedin, Sedin, Edler, Hansen, Vrbata and Burrows,) Dallas have 14, Calgary 13, Colorado & NY Islanders 11, Florida & Edmonton 10. We're about as close to a one line team as you get, and our first line consists of two 35 year olds. This is what's most alarming about our situation right now. Mikael Samuelsson scored 35 goals one year, Burrows used to be really good, he had a few 30+ goals seasons, Mason Raymond scored almost 30 goals one year, Higgins had a few years when he was effective, Vrbata had 30 goals last year. It's just this year that everyone apart from the Sedin line has been absolut garbage.

Samuelsson never scored 35 or even close really, Burrows scored 30 once because of the Sedins being even more incredible than they are now. Raymond scored 25 once then had less than 20 or worse the rest of his career. None of those players were even close to being a star player. I agree with you that Burrows was very good, Samuelsson was good, Vrbata was good, Raymond and Higgins had their moments. None were stars, though. That said, there are teams (Buffalo for years) that don't really have one bona fide star forward, so two (and three at one point) isn't too shabby. And I think Burrows only crested 30 goals once. Not to mention David Booth who was supposed to revive his career in Vancouver after scoring 31 for Florida in a single season.
DownUndaCanuck
We've honestly never been a good 4 line team. In 2011, when we were arguably our deepest, our 4th line was still atrocious with Glass etc., and they were a big reason we lost the Cup to a really strong 4th line in Boston. Our deepest forward group was probably 2012 but we've never truly been a deep forward group, always top-heavy with the Sedins. Sometimes our 3rd liners look like they're putting up big numbers but only because they rotate on the first line. It's a hard thing to get 3rd and 4th liners to score 10-15 to even 20 goals, but the Cup champs find ways to get these guys.

Not the piles of injuries that had started biting us before the playoffs even started? Malhotra going down hurt us far more than Tanner Glass being useless. There was that and Luongo's patented Jeckyll and Hyde routine in the playoffs as well.

I don't think too many of us are thinking this.. I think its more just that by Sutter slotting back in a) we will at least get another offensive threat not named Sedin or Hansen, and b ) he will help to slow the bleeding just as a presence on the ice and in the locker room. Hopefully there aren't a large contingent out there that actually believe he will magically make everything better. I think most people are not so deluded to believe that, but this is CDC after all. Bo.Horvat53
Get used to it man...its the sad reality of the team. We will have to wait for at least 3 years before pur top 9 is actually competitive.
Tre Mac
Want to know the real reason why everyone not named Sedin can't score? It's actually the defense. They can't even make the simple break out pass that is vital in today's NHL. This is a reason why it is so painful to watch Canuck hockey this year, even if they do manage to win. This is a result of icing possibly the worst D-core in the league. Watch next game how bad a Weber, Bartowski, or Biega gets pressured resulting in a dump and chase strategy that is not going to work with a 30+yo forward that has no speed trying to close in on the puck. I never realized how important defensemen were to facilitate the offense until I saw how bad our D-core is, Sidney Crosby can attest to this as well. As i recall our 4th Line got schooled. Even gave up the odd goal. Thats not good enough.
