Patrick O'Sullivan: "Burrows is the only guy who said he wanted to hurt me like me father did - why I can't stand him"

Moderators.  I seriously question if threads like this are necessary or beneficial to the Vancouver Canucks organization as a whole.  The entire thread is based on conjecture and injureous to the reputation of players, the teams involved and the entire sport of hockey.  People follow this garbage like sheep being herded into a pen one after the other.

Please take a close look at value of this type of obnoxious thread and lock it.  It is purely speculative rumour that need not be part of the Canucks organization in any manner whatsoever.  I really hope you agree as I find the thread offensive.

It is my understanding that in speaking about the book and his experiences, it was a question that just came up and he answered it. I could be wrong but it doesn't sound like he brought this up out of the blue to either attack Burrows or as a lead to promoting his book. I think people might be reading too much into it.

I won't disagree u might be right we all got are own opinions.

Clearly, as it wouldn;t have reached over 30 pages if not. I actually find the bigger issue it raised to be interesting: the whole culture of unwritten codes and self-policing. On one hand, the players need to decide what they deem to be an acceptible environment to play in but there will be a huge range of opinions (Yzerman to Cooke to Naslund to Burrows etc. etc.). On another hand, what is realy OK to expect from professional athletes? The people that say that players should settle things on the ice "like men" are asking professional athletes to solve disputes through bare-knuckle fights to resolve "code violations". Even if some (minority/majority/?) of the players will be OK with it, is it reasonable in this day and age to demand players risk brain injury and long-term damage merely for our "entertainment" regarless of how much money they make? Is it a needed part of the game or is it really just for the entertainment of fans who like to watch strangers fight with no considerations of the potential consequences to the participants?

A forum is not reflective of the organization but rather on the fan discussion and its contents. If you don't like the subject matter, feel free to skip the thread altogether.

The moment we start censoring material because of the supposed "image" that you want to portray about the organization, the moment this site stops being an actual forum.

Hey looks! 31 pages of absolutely irrelevant gibberish that doesn't contribute to the betterment of humanity in any way.

It does, however, keep one man, Burrows, from moving on with his career, and others, the people in this type of discussion, from thinking straight.

Did you just imply that this thread is keeping Burrows from moving on with his career?

That is correct.  What value to the game of hockey, to the Canucks or to any hockey player does this tripe have.  It is nothing but a bunch of old maid gossip carried on by a bunch of people who could care less about tarnishing anyones reputation.  I do not feel the molestation of an individual should ever be the general topic of any chat forum on the internet, especially when those taking part in the conversation are spewing their speculations and opinions about persons who may or may not be involved.  Mixing in the rumour mill can be devastating to a persons reputation and that is not right and should not be part of these forums to any degree.

You should possibly read the Terms of Service of Canucks NHL.com.  In addition, I did not say the mods worked for the Canucks but they do administrate the forums.  I note the Canucks official logo, news authored by persons on the executive of the Canucks on the Website, etc.etc.etc., so I believe what I said about he crap being tendered in this thread not being good for the organization, is in fact a fair statement.  So...........  Grape, what is your point about the mods, or do you have one?
