Patrick O'Sullivan: "Burrows is the only guy who said he wanted to hurt me like me father did - why I can't stand him"

And everybody has that same control? Little 10 year old O'Sullivan did? Not a chance.

You're missing the forest for the trees. You never have the choice when you're a small child at the mercy of people who are supposed to love and support you. You absolutely have the choice as an adult to face down those shadows.

Chicago, la and Boston all had significant talent.  Trash talk had nothing to do with it or you're saying we are incredibly mentally weak.

marchand seems to be everyone's target and rightly so. But along with his antics is performance.  He owns the Canucks on every level and has displayed as such every time here.  If you look at the season he is currently putting together it leaves burr exposed as an empty mouthed has been.

I am not referring to trash talk by itself in this context.  I am referring to aggressiveness, for lack of a better term.  Of which trash talk is a byproduct.  If trash talk is the only thing brought to the table though, then yeah, that will lose.  Kesler and Burrows are skilled though.

I'm sorry, that's terrible and no child should  have to go through that. But I must say I'm a little alarmed that you'd insult somebody about that after going through it yourself to be perfectly honest.

I wouldn't worry. I make the conscious choice to be kind.

God I miss the hockey of old where it wasn't the protected garbage it has turned into lately. Burrows has trash talked his entire career - and he is not the only player that has made a living off of it. Stuff like that should stay on the ice, its part of the game and anyone saying "oh God, that's awful" - you're right it is. That's the point. Its intended to get into players heads and get them off their game.

Really sick of all these people crying to the media about their feelings getting hurt. Grow up. You get paid millions of dollars to play a game and you'd think they were receiving death threats by the way some of these children were reacting.

This.

In my view, I also expect people who suport Burrows, to also be in total support of everything negative said about the Sedins. Whether it bea decade of calling them the sisters, or anything that Dave Bolland, Or Seguin or Benn said about them sharing a bed?

Because that would be awfully hypocritical.

But if you're okay with that then fine.

First off, it is not even known Burrows knew his back story.  It's like me saying trash talking someone saying "yo mamma so fat that not even Dora can explore her" only to find out later your mom died of a heart attack due to obesity.  Well now suddenly I look like a huge douche but maybe, just maybe at the time I didn't know.  Not every player follows the back story of every other player in the league.

Also I really hate the way this world is going with this political correctness.  I've heard things way worst told to me by strangers on the internet.  Do I go to the media or call the cops?  No, I deal with it, talk back or consider the fact that what someone I barely know says to me will not affect my life one bit.  I hate how whiny with political correctness this world has become.  It's like everyone wants some sympathy for everything rough they go through.  I've had a pretty rough back story but I don't go demand sympathy every time someone brings it up.  Especially when families are getting killed in war torn countries and children being pulled away from parents to become mercenaries and here we are crying because another hockey player said something mean so everyone pay attention to me.

I don't care who says it about who.  If Burrows went to the media to whine about someone saying something mean to him I would say the same thing.  You play a professional sport.  Toughen up and stop whining in social media.

But you have a user name of Tom Sestito. The boxing hobo who literally jumps guys on the ice with their gloves still on.

tell me i'm wrong - we have no one on this team who'd effectively attack jordan nolan for being the chicken $&!# he is, but rather we're paying 5x more for a guy like prust or dorsett to be mentors who only fight or provoke at useless times of the game.

and he was a good person and a good locker room presence while he was up with the big club. obviously he had a $&!# attitude when they decided to send him down, and it was a good thing he left the org at that point, but i always have a soft spot for tom. started off as a gag when he was picked up, grew to respect him.

Out of curiosity, why?

It's easy to get upset with people, to dehumanize them because they've let you down in some way. In my experience, life is a lot more vibrant and enjoyable when you consciously acknowledge the humanity of people around you. Most people don't really care about being right at the end of the day, they just want to feel like they were understood.

Three and a half million people in Metro Vancouver and you'd be surprised how good it can feel to make one person feel like they're important.

We never called them complete pieces of garbage like people do with burrows. Those guys also said it to the media. Burrows left it on the ice. Simple solution to smack talk. Do it on the ice. Leave it on the ice. Quit being a girl n go grab a beer after the game. Jeez. When they talked smack about Sedins we never said they were pieces of garbage. we just said them dudes was wack n we wanted to wreck em on the ice. You didn't see the Sedins running to the media saying bolland is a bully.
