[Cleared Waivers] Blackhawks D David Rundblad to AHL

Maybe Benning wants to sit back and watch this team flounder this year.  a top 10 pick in 2016 might be more enticing than patching up the D in order to finish 10th in the west or (best case scenario) get pounded in the first round.  just a thought.

Rundblad won't be the difference between a top 10 pick or a playoff spot.

I think he can be if he is an upgrade on Weber.  The difference between a Top 10 pick and a playoff spot might be a few points in the standings. My opinion is that Canuck management may be open to a bunch of options, one of which could be to sit back and use internal personnel to fill holes in the roster with the intent of letting this team flounder a little bit.

I think it's definitely worth a shot, I just don't see him being a big difference maker for us. It's unfortunate cause he looked so promising as a youngster.

Of note, I believe the pick Ottawa gave up to get him from St. Louis turned out to be Tarasenko. Woops.

Do you think he would be better than Weber? (honestly interested in your opinion).  I think it would be hard not to be an upgrade on weber!

I don't think he'd really be an upgrade but  I'd like to see them try it, he's definitely got potential to be an upgrade. He probably brings more offensively (Weber hasn't done much at all in that regard this year) and he's a good puck mover, but defensively I'd say he's at best on par with Weber. Realistically he's a bottom pairing/PP specialist guy (same as Weber), but then again Weber was actually decent playing 20+ minutes the other night.

basically, what theminister just said.

whats the knock on this guy?   he sure has been bounced around the league a lot for a former first.   He was traded early after his draft.    It would seem theres more to him being traded and waived so much.    Interesting player for Utica if his contract isn't tomuch.

Poor-to-average skating and bad defensive play. Prone to turnovers too I believe.

Waiver wire position is based on the previous seasons overall standings, unless you've already claimed someone this season.

Almost completely wrong. At the start of the season the waiver order is based on the previous season, but come November the waiver order is based on current standings and making a claim doesn't push you to the back of the list or otherwise affect the waiver order.

I love the NHL games from EASports and all, but they really have messed up people's knowledge of how the actual NHL works.

He has been absolutely terrible this year and wasn't very good last year either. The fact that the Hawks would rather put out a Roszival-Scuderi pairing than play him is telling.

Don't blame Benning if he doesn't pick him up. It just means that he has actually watched the Hawks play this season.

Good points.  Maybe sticking with Pedan and Biega is a better option!

I remember having to correct someone when they thought there was a "free send down" period, where you could send down waiver-eligible players without having to put them on waivers. I'm not sure why EA put that in their games anyway...maybe to deal with some flaws that they couldn't correct.

I was wondering that. He's already with his fourth NHL team at 25 years old.

His numbers show a solid year last year but he was on a very good defensive team and obviously played protected minutes as he averaged just over 12 minutes per game.

It seems obvious to grab him given the instant need for a right handed d-man but there seems to be some red flags which make me think we should pass.
