Demko (Value Disscussion)

Recommended Posts

Well with Markstrom looking to be NHL ready, and appearing to have the skill to be a starter

I ask you, 2 years after his draft year, what would Thatcher's value be?

Reminder: 2014 - 36 OA

Just want to open it up to discuss

What would his value be? What team might be interested?

I don't mean to start a war here, I am just wondering, if there is increased value in Demko?  We could draft another high end goalie in the early second round.....for the team wanting him, they get him 2 years earlier than if they drafted this year.....maybe it isn't worth the discussion......just thought I would ask!

If he were in Chi, Bos or LA his value would prob be LINDROS-like!!!

Hated Cdn franchise?..Ummm? He already had SURGERY, didn't he?

Sorry, this league IS a rigged casino. What we got for Eddie, compared to what Bos got for Jones? Oh, right.

Can't quietly/idly stand what US interests(& lil' lawyers) have done to a league, which was once a wonderful game to follow.

To Vancover:  He is priceless.

To any of the other 29 other NHL teams:  He is more than priceless.

We do NOT mortgage futures.  Forsling and McKeown (or the 2nd round pick that represented him) showed us why in todays game.

His value is currently N/A

Jim Benning wisely spending that second round pick on Thatcher Demko will go down as one of the best moves he made as GM. Not even joking, kind of, that move was a potential true foundational piece move for many years to come.

We have Calgary to thank (kinda) too for letting him slip to us. Demko has superstar written all over him and I doubt he'll ever be traded unless he wants out.

Exaclty. Lack wasn't bad nor was he great. Just an average goaltender at best. Canucks were in the play offs before Miller got hurt and Lack kept us a float until the season ended. Canucks fans were excited that a 1.1 million dollar goalie helped us get into the play offs and were way too excited about it. They liked him over Miller because he was a great guy, teammate and loved the city but it doesn't equate to a first round pick like Boston received. Boston traded away Lucic for Jones and a first round pick, no way boston would make that trade if they didn't get Jones, Basically it was Lucic for two first round picks, sums it up right for a player like Lucic's value.

Demko is untouchable. He is the best goalie prospect since Schnieder so basically the second best goalie prospect we ever had and has the potentiel to be the best goalie of all time for the canucks. Either he sinks or swims in a Canucks  jersey before we ever trade him and hope he retires as a canuck. He is that damn good.

You know when I started this post, it was to reassess Demko's  value, but after thinking about some of the posts, the most glaring fact is that an unproven Demko was drafted at 36 OA as a 17 year old, and we got the 9th OA pick for Schneider, who was a proven 25 yr. elite goalie...not a lot of picks in between the 2 when you think of it.........

Somewhat astounding, really

Untouchable, he fits perfectly into the goalie progression. We've finally got the ages perfect, lets not mess this one up now too.

Just as Miller's getting too old, Markstrom is coming into his own. Just as Markstrom passes his prime, Demko will have had some time in the AHL and will be NHL-ready.
