iinatcc
I was actually thinking that maybe EDM could get Roman Josi+ if they trade RNH. But this trade makes sense for CBJ and NSH since both Johansen and Jones are projected and starting to become to be elite players in a critical position. I know I am kind of stunned. 6'3 225 top line center prospects who score over 30 goals at 21 and 71 points at 22 are worth a whole heck of a lot. I'm not sure why anyone here is surprised. RJ already is a top line center, Seth Rogen is probably not even a top 2 defensemen yet.

I don't think the Preds would do Josi straight up for RNH. Edmonton would be the one adding.

Probably, hard to say since in theory RNH has a higher upside since has the potential to be a #1 Centre and a 1st overall
DeltaSwede
What a fantastic trade for both sides, very exciting for both franchises. Beast for a beast. Forsberg - Johansen - Neal!? HOLY. Forgot to even mention how good a move this is not only filling the needs of each team, but Columbus are likely going to have a big chance at drafting Austin Matthews this draft as well, filling that #1 center spot immediately again. For Nashville, Seth Jones was always a moveable piece because he literally fell into their lap on draft day, they didn't even expect or planned to draft him and were looking for a center. With their depth on D, they could always afford to move Jones for a piece like Johansen. Just a brilliant move all the way through, fantastic work by both GM's, two of the smartest in the business. Mr.53
This deal just shows how valuable a top D for years it. It cost Ryan Johansen to pull Seth Jones out. Inversely speaking as well. Nashville is so dangerous now as they have everything. Strong wings, even stronger D, and one of the best goaltenders in the world. Instantly, they become formidabble. That is a cup contending team, and looks like they should be for a while. Imagine if Johansen finds some chemistry with Forsberg or Neal, and they still can bring in guys like Fiala. The preds are in good shape. Columbus has a chance to tank this year, or at least lose, as losing Johansen and gaining Seth Jones would not really help them this year. But as of next year and the near future they could be incredibly deadly as well. Bobrovsky is a beast of a goaltender, and now they have as legitimate of a future defense core as anyone. (Ryan Murray - Seth Jones. Zach Werenski, and Gabriel Carlsson coming... damn...) And if they continue to lose, and get Auston Matthews, then the loss of Ryan Johansen doesn't seem so bad. They still have Boone Jenner and Alex Wennberg as future guys with Dubinsky to complement. Both teams got much better after this if you ask me. Nashville will be a force now, and Columbus will be a force soon.

Barry Trotz was saying that when he got to Washington he had to correct his staff there because they just didn't seem to realise how good he is - he thinks he is a star in his own right. Doughty just called him one of the most underrated players in the league while talking of his amazing instincts and how for him Josi/Weber are the best D pairing in the league. This summer Poile was saying that he literally does not know for whom he would trade Josi or Weber because they are that good. Back to this trade - as you say it make so much sense - looks like a win-win. CBJ finally finds a D1 and Nashville gets the C1 they had expected to draft in 2013. Poile admitted that instead of Jones (which he raves about) they thought they would be getting McKinnon or Barkov his draft year and never expected for Jones to fall in their laps. Nashville drafts BPA and not by position. Exciting trade for both teams.

Nave
Such a good trade for both teams. Nashville improved short term, and Columbus improved long term. Overall, I think Columbus won the trade, looking into the future.
