This may be premature.. But what will our lines look like when healthy?

We have Hamhuis, Sutter, Sbisa and now Hansen out.  We also just acquired Emerson Etem a player who will likely play consistantly in the top 9 of our lineup.  Where are we going to be when all the healthy bodies return?

I don't believe we can keep all the ufa's given all the youth. So I suspect like many of you some deals will be made.  I think we will see Prust, Higgins, and possibly Weber moved out.  (Will we keep vrbata for a playoff push? I think we might. Replacable pieces probably be moved).

If lines were to stay similar to now how would it work?

Sedin Sedin Hansen

Baertschi Horvat Vrbata

Virtanen Sutter Etem (or vica versa on wings)

Cracknall McCann Dorsett

(With Burrows/Kenins in the wing & Greiner/Gaunce/Shink as first call ups?)

Edler Tanev

Hamhuis Weber (or who will fit in here?)

Hutton Sbisa

Team is looking really strong.  We may actually have a decent playoff team once we fully recover.  Who do you think will go and who do you think will stay and how might we look?

Yes thats right. I completely forgot about Biega!!! Guy has been great every game he has been in! :) the bulldog biega!

Added Weber to the multiple choice list.  Please note you can select more then 1 player as it is multiple choice.

The top two lines seem pretty much set.  WillieD from today http://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/en/preview?id=2015020622

"I like the look of that second line; we've looked for secondary scoring, now we got it and we'll probably try to stay with that," Desjardins said. "Vrbata is a shooter, Baertschi is a passer, Horvat has good speed, he can push the pace, so you have a little bit of everything on that line, and when you have that you have a chance to be successful."

I think Vey gets sent back down once Sutter comes back - he'll likely have to go through waivers.  And the other player might be Higgins (through waivers to Utica) unless Virtanen gets returned to Juniors.
On D - Pedan gets sent down once Sbisa comes back.

Up to the TDL - ie later in January up to end of Feb:

Sedin Sedin Hansen
Baertschi Horvat Vrbata
Burrows Sutter Virtanen/Etem
Prust McCann/Cracknell Dorsett

Edler Tanev
Hutton Sbisa
Bartkowski Biega

You just put the worst defenseman in the NHL in a top 4-role.  If WD is even considering dressing him with a healthy lineup, there's no chance of making the playoffs.

As for my lineup:

Sedin Sedin Hansen

Burrows Sutter Virtanen

Baertschi Horvat Etem

Shinkaruk McCann Dorsett

Cracknell

Grenier

Kennins

Gaunce

Vey

Edler Tanev

Hutton Sbisa

Pedan Bartkowski

Biega

Sautner

Subban

Emergency call up for Briesbrois

Fin

Weber if we can't get rid of him

Miller

Markstrom

Unload everyone in the poll for any return and get rid of Weber via waivers.

I will do cart-wheels if this team did it the right way, eg trade Vrbata,Hammer, and Weber and still make the dance. I argue, with those 3 pieces gone this team will actually be more exciting to watch. Imagine a Shinkurak and Pedan taking the roles. The biggest issue now is Willie is not giving a chance to Pedan to play; therefore, we will never know what he can be like for us, for all we know he plays worst then Weber? Hhmmmmm Maybe, look I don't mind playoffs but do it the right way and trade the UFAs and remain competitive and please consider trading a guy like EDLER, he will cost us many goals in the playoffs.

Out at TD Day: Vrbata + 2nd to Montreal for Juulsen + 3rd (once Price is back and Montreal decides they're all in this year, they'll need some scoring more than a Dman 3-4 years from now), Miller to Anaheim for Andersen (Gibson is their future not Andersen...they'll let him go if they can get a more stable mentor for Gibson...cause something isn't going right at Disneyland right now), Prust, Weber and Higgins for picks. Leaves us with:

SEDIN-SEDIN-SUTTER

BAERTSCHI-HORVAT-HANSEN

VIRTANEN-McCANN-ETEM

BURROWS-CRACKNELL-DORSETT-VEY-KENINS (GRENIER TO AHL)

EDLER-TANEV

HAMHUIS-SBISA

HUTTON-BIEGA-BARTKOWSKI (PEDAN TO AHL)

MARKSTROM-ANDERSEN

There, just freed up 16.35mil for UFA's this summer...and guaranteed to get a top 10 pick

Yeah. I'm more inclined to leave Bo and Baer on the second line. They've been lighting it up, and doing so well. Adjusting to top six roles.

This is what I would do:

Sedin-Sedin-Sutter

Baer-Horvat-Virtanen

Hansen-McCann-Etem

Burr-Cracknell-Dorsett

Extra Forwards: Vey, Kenins, Grenier.

Defense:

Edler-Tanev

Hamhuis-Sbisa

Hutton-Bart/Pedan

Extra Dman: Biega, Weber.

Markstrom-Miller

** I don't think Benning moves Miller at the deadline, as much as I think it would be wise to do so.

I'm hoping that Benning is able to trade Miller, Weber, Prust, Vrbata.

We don't get any 1st round picks from those guys, though.

Looks good but you've got 3 too many players...either need to trade, waive or send a couple down.

Say what you want about the quality of the Pacific,  but imo this club would be solidly in the playoff picture, as opposed to on the fringe, if Willy had a healthy roster for most of the season.

Because of that i wouldn't expect a fire sale at the deadline - JB has said since day 1 their goal is the playoffs.

Still early. I'd wait, probably around Feburary before teams begin to separate themselves. We lose tonight, and we are "ok" on the road (8-8-6). If we don't do well on this upcoming road trip, we may lose ground, and slip further in the standings. We may not be last in the entire league, but other teams may tighten up. I'm not convinced that we have the firepower to keep up as the playoff race intensifies.

Goalies:

Miller

Markstrom

Trade everyone else for prospects or picks. Now this is of course making the huge assumption we don't acquire any other players. I mean we just picked up a player on nobody's radar and now he's likely to join the team. Odds are this line-up won't look anything like what actually gets iced, but given who we have now, this is most likely imo.

Why is everyone inserting Etem into the top 9? Guy was being a constant healthy scratch playing on the 4 line on the Rangers and was apparently terrible. He'll be lucky to get a steady spot on the 4th line, most likely be the extra forward.

Because we have Vey, Cracknell, Prust, and Higgins in that group. Not exactly stiff competition.

He has an edge on Prust because of his speed, Vey because he actually plays physical, and Higgins because he actually does stuff when he's on the ice.
