He's not done yet. I'm confident he'll get called up at some point.

If he plays in the NHL again, it will be for minimum salary, on a Cup competitive team, in a specialist checking PK role.  It won't be in Vancouver.  IMHAO you're close to being right, but just not here.

I had hoped someone would have traded for him, but at his salary and current production post injury can't say I am surprised. Mostly impressed by how he's taken it all no words of complaint. If his attitude even ribs off slightly on some of the guys down in Utica, that will be great.

The NFL does things right when it comes to contracts. They can sign a player to a huge $ deal, but theres on X amount guaranteed. If a player plays like crap or does something illegal etc the team can just cut them.

The NHL players have it REALLY good contract wise imo its too good...

This all said it is still sad to see us cut loose a veteran guy who has been here for over 4 mores, and keep a newcomer who would have been easier to move with the same cap hit...Just sayin!

you don't cut a guy loose, tell him you don't want him to be part of your team, and then call him back up.

I agree it's unlikely we bring him back in, but a team may want to see him at the NHL level to see if he can still be useful before trading for him. Maybe we bring him back up for a game or two to showcase him if there's interest. That way he still has the waivers passed to be able to go back down, but can be a bit less of a gamble for a team.

And players frequently hold out of those contracts so they get restructured/paid more all the time.

Every system has its pros and cons.

We all think hes going to be traded. I'm curious if its possible for him to regain his form in the A and maybe become a late season call up for the 4th line.  He could really reinvent himself with this opportunity.  He as a person doesn't bother me it was just always his attitude.  Alway seemed like he thought he was better then everyone else and his hair kinda emphasized it.

Hope his career in the nhl isn't over.  Would love to have him back in the N on the 4th line maybe in the future.  Could be a great playoff call-up.  But then again the room seems better with him gone so maybe its time for him to roll on.
