At some point on this 6 game road trip we are going to have Sbisa, Hansen and Sutter all return. The only player that can clear waivers and thats with only playing 1 more game and then being sent down is Vey. We need to create a minimum of 2 roster spots for Hansen and Sutter. Sbisa can slot in and weber/Bart/Biega can become #7 d man. We already have cracknell and McCann swapping out as healthy scratches so add Hansen and Sutter we need to make some moves up front. I dont think McCann or virtanen go to junior so that leaves trades or waivers. I dont think we can keep everyone once healthy as we would have too many players on the roster Good post, & perhaps(?) a good problem to have. If we can flip 1 or 2 excess for picks, would be nice. Glad for once it seems we have reasonable depth, & potentially a number of options.
86Viking
Makes sense about the 10 game total rule, otherwise I am sure teams would abuse it. Out of pure respect to HIggins, I would have kept him regardless of his poor first half to the year and moved a new comer who is a pending ufa and holds the cap space in Prust. I know prust brings a style of game different from Higgins. But he is slow, doesnt hit much and lately has been unnoticeable. Also, as a pending UFA he would have been easier to move even if we had to retain, and likely there is interest in a player of his style for teams looking for grit during the playoffs. Not to say that higgins doesnt have this happen after prust was moved anyway but where is the team loyalty to spent 4 plus years working his butt off here compared to a guy we just got who has played less than 40 games for us? Higgins McCann Dorsett- This isnt that bad of a 4th line Anyways, whats done is done, I feel for Higgins but it is a business and they make a lot of $, I just feel like the Canucks should have moved out Prust well before going this route with Higgins

Great news, they could use him. My guess would be that Biega sticks and Weber slips to the 7 spot.\ Biega has been seeing 5 more minutes of ice a night than Weber - I think he's leapfrogged him on the depth chart. Receivin' timely roster-update from OldNews Excess are congregatin' for few church pews What with Bo-Bear's emergence & overall youth-deliverance Pray it's time for exodus of old refuse

Rush17
random question. There is zero way Higgins can be traded well on the wavier wire correct? he is indeed in limbo right? just wanna make sure that assumption of mine is correct. A team cannot recall a wavier request so hes prob stick in limbo eh?

A team cannot recall a wavier request so hes prob stick in limbo eh? In limbo between now until he clears tomorrow? Probably as the Canucks have now made him available for free to every team in the league so they can't suddenly tell a team that claims him that he is no longer available but that's only a 24 hour limbo. If he's not claimed he can be traded, sent down or even kept with the team (Arizona regularly waives John Scott but keep him up).
elvis15
Correct, he can only be claimed at this point. We can't trade him until after he's cleared if a team suddenly decides they're interested but realize they need to move a contract to bring him in (e.g. Colorado already at 50 contracts, or a team with a full 23 man roster). Weber has not been able to replicate his contribution on the PP so I doubt there are any takers at the TDL. I am kind of curious on who gets the spot between Vey and Cracknell. I guess we'll know by the end of the week.
canuckistani
Sedins-Sutter Baer-Horvat-Hansen Prust-McCann-Vrby Burrows-Cracknell-Dorsett/Etem *I know it was a while ago, but i liked the look of the Sedans-Sutter line. ** With Baer-Horvat finding chemistry, its time to put Hansen back on that line, where he also had very good chemistry with Horvat and will help a lot in Horvat being a 2-way defenseman than mostly forced to being a rookie 'shutdown only'. *** Prust-McCann-Vrby will be a decent scoring line IMO with some grit thrown in. **** Burrows-Cracknell would be a good sandpaper line alongside Dorsett/Etem. Alflives
Just now, chilliwiggins said: anybody know anything about whether Sutter was hurt before the trade? Botchford had a tweet regarding this. The guy was pretty damn good when he got here. If he was playing that good with an injury, he's going to be super now he's all fixed up. Great trade by JB. Now, does Sutter play wing with the Twins? What happens to Burrows, when Hansen and Sutter are both back? Does he follow Higgins?
mll
9 minutes ago, chilliwiggins said: anybody know anything about whether Sutter was hurt before the trade? Botchford had a tweet regarding this. Just a provocation on his part. In the Provies he explained why that speculation made no sense: http://blogs.theprovince.com/2016/01/12/the-provies-everything-you-need-to-know-about-twinsgate-the-florida-revolution-and-the-legend-of-luongo/ --------- A festering rumour about Brandon Sutter had been lurching its way around the city, bubbling up in a public way on more than a couple of occasions. Enough times, in fact, that it finally had to be addressed. I never put much thought into it, because it’s, uh, pretty effen ridiculous. If Brandon Sutter’s insides were ripped up before the Canucks traded for him, why wasn’t he missing practices? Why wasn’t he spending any time rehabbing? It had the feel of another one of those Vancouver urban myths. Cloutier and the Porsche. Lack and the locker room. Sutter and his sports hernia. When presented with that “hot tip,” Sutter first started laughing. “If I had it in the summer, I would have got the surgery in the summer,” Sutter said. “It was something I felt literally the second last game I played. “It was the game in New Jersey. I came off after the Jersey game and I had some tightness and soreness. “I’ve been though so many groin strains, I just went out and played again. “The next game, I felt OK to play in Columbus. We wrapped it up, and got it ready. The next day we practised and I knew something was wrong. “I felt something I had never felt before. “That story, about the summer, is very far fetched.” At first, they wondered if Sutter could play through it. He spent two weeks with rest and rehab. “The tough part was deciding what to do,” Sutter said. “A couple of specialists said to rehab for 10-14 days, to see if it would settle down. “There comes a point after 14 days where you know if you’re ready to play again, or you’re not even close. “I didn’t make any progress. “Looking back on it, it was a good thing we went with the surgery because once they got in there, they said there was no way it would ever have improved.”
86Viking
I think Sutter has to play C when he returns, we are the worst faceoff team in the league. McCann would be a winger the rest of the year, takes a bit more pressure off of him
