TOOMUCHINTERNET
Hi everyone. I have a stack of hockey cards that I am looking to get rid of and I was wondering what the experts on here think. The types I have are mostly: Topps, Victory, Upper Deck, Pro Set, and Prism Gold. Some highlights: Zdeno Charo 1999 topps & rookie Radim Vrbata 1999 topps. Where should I take these to sell? A shop or craigslist? Don't want to part with them but some grocery money for my final stint at UBC would help.
Mike Vanderhoek
I'd be interested in having a look. Let me know via pm if you have a list or anything of what you have.
Down by the River
When I was about 16 I sold a ton of my hockey cards because I wanted a little extra pocket money. One of the biggest regrets I have. My recommendation is you hold onto those cards and try and find some odd jobs to do instead. If you're at UBC, head to the psych department, they always need participants for random studies that require very little of you.
Scottish⑦Canuck
90s cards are generally pretty worthless since that's when they started to produce them in mass quantities and in so many sets. Nowadays only really the higher end sets are worth anything, with the exception of the odd card from UD Series 1 and 2 etc. Patches, autos, young guns and that sort of thing. Mike Vanderhoek
well I still buy unopened or sealed boxes or packs and select singles so if anyone has any to move out let me know but otherwise ScottishCanuck nailed it, unless 89 or older it is hard to get good value for your cards except for the select ones mentioned above. ShakyWalton
A friend of mine was remodeling his basement about 15 years ago and they tore a wall down and found some cards...a Bobby Orr rookie card amongst others..lucky guy.
Green Goblin
This reminds me of the time I buried some rare hockey cards I got when I lived in Vancouver (Gretzky, Bure, Hull, Yzerman, Lindstrom, Stevens, Modano, Hasek, etc). I'd say around half of them were Red Wings players. I had about 500 cards and most of them were shiny. I traded my Yugioh and Pokemon cards for them. I was just a kid when I buried them in hopes of cashing in on them in the future. They probably haven't appreciated much if any. The only clue I'm willing to give about its location is "sports field".
