(Speculation) Freidman "I wouldn't be surprised if The Canucks threw some serious money at Stamkos"

Possibly most over rated player in history, yikes.. Hate to even say that

Yeah, well he was real good for cpl years and got that huge contract. After their Stanley Cup Win Tampa kept Vinny over Richards who had a better career. But it was all downhill for Vinny after the 85 million dollar front loaded deal.

You sure see a lot of Canucks Jerseys across the continent,   I wonder what sales numbers of team products look like for each franchise?

I been doing Google search on this for last 15 mins or so. Hard to tell as figures are not from recent years. But as you would expect OV, Crosby, Malkin Toews, Kane and the likes are the biggest selling jerseys. One list had Lucic at #10. Haven't' seen Stamkos on the lists though. Figures because look where he plays.

As for teams, Toronto, MTL, Chicago have been prominent.

Look at that crowd in LA on a Tuesday night!    We need to make a few small ballsy moves like we discussed. BooM !!

Yeah, LA is a 2 time Cup winner, Lakers suck Dodgers season is over and they don't have NFL yet.

My buddy went to a game cpl months ago, 4 tickets, right by the bench for 80 bucks. His kid got a stick from one of the players at end of night. Had a great night. Still building is half empty.

I remember when PNE was always half empty, Canucks almost moved before we got moved to GM place, Bure came and the rink started filling up. Gotta say about that Bure, he did more for Canucks hockey than any player in history, finance wise.

I remember that too...  Too bad Dale Talon was a bit of a bust ;)  But Bure.. Could you imagine him in today's equipment, with today's training and nutrition,.. And the two line pass to boot!     Hopefully JB is setting us up for something exciting,. That's what this city needs.

If Canucks let all their UFA's go except Baertschi they keep him for 2 million and cap increases by say 1 million, they have roughly 14 million. Trade Miller, Burrows, Higgins, Edler for... whatever. Picks and guys for Utica. Canucks are up to 30 million. Trade Gaunce or Shinkaruk + 2nd for rights to Vatanen, throw in that free CBJ pick if need be.

12 for Stamkos

7 for Lucic

6 for Byfuglien

4.5 for Vatanen

Lineup:

Lucic-Stamkos-Hansen

Sedin-Sedin-Sutter

Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen

Etem-McCann-Dorsett

Byfuglien-Vatanen

Hutton-Tanev

Sbisa-Fedun

Markstrom

Bachman

1-2 million cap left.

Boom.

Haha it'll never happen. But could you imagine?

Yeah because a terrible contract is what you want to use to set the bar. I clearly laid out the names of players that I thought were better than Stamkos. If you want to argue that Stamkos is as good as those players, go ahead. If you want to come up with terrible arguments, that will fit right in with pretty much everything else you've said on this forum.

If you don't think Stamkos is as good as those players, then you must've never seen him play a single shift. Here's a thought, who does Stamkos have to support him, in Tampa? Hedman......and that's pretty much it. All those guys you mentioned has had a strong supporting cast around them. When those players you named, don't put up the numbers, they can rely on others to pick up the slack. Stamkos has literally no one to do that for him, since St. Louis left. So, he's the easy target, when he's not scoring at a point per game rate.

Now you will probably say, an elite player, like Stamkos should make players around them better. I don't know how long you've been following Tampa, but just last year, he made two guys who were relatively unknown and made them average almost a point per game. Now look at Tyler Johnson, who has a measly 14 points this season, without Stamkos on his wing. St. Louis was never the same player he was in Tampa, after he got traded to New York. Teddy Purcell, never broke 40 points, after he played those two seasons with Stamkos. Yeah, he doesn't make his linemates better.

I also wanted to point out, how you listed Ovechkin. When four seasons ago, most people were saying he was done and on the decline.

But....he's staying in LA.....right?

Not anymore, because I said so. You know I have control over who goes where right?

I along with Sam and Boddy have figured out  a way to move some vets to create enough cap space for Lucic and Stamkos, so they're both coming here.

LA pushing to rack up points.. Sure to coast and rest players before playoffs.. Top Shape.

Those of us who realize the value of a Lucic to a line up, aren't at all surprised by LA's season.  He has a MASSIVE impact on e dry game, just by his presence.  Plus the guy plays top minutes and scores too.  The Twins really do deserve to finally have him on their wing.  I remember hearing Gino Odjik say as much during an interview about 4 years ago, soon after we lost to the Bruins.

Yep. If the Kings want to re-sign him, that's where he'll stay.

Gotta save our money for Stamkos anyways.

Rocks' and I have saved the world tonight DeNiro ,.. We've got cash to burn, we're going to burst the rivets on Rogers after we get Stamkos, Lucic, and Buff !

And look at Vinny come back to life,  he had one foot in the grave last month.
