Our remaining Schedule

Recommended Posts

After we finish this successful road trip in PIT on Saturday morning we will have 33 games remaining.

20 of those 33 will now be at home, there are only 3 road games in FEB, 7 in MAR and 3 in APR all in the Western Conference

With homestands like this you get, better practice times,  better therapy, better eating and sleeping habits, etc.

Henrik, Sutter and Hamhuis will all be returning soon, Our Goaltending is "real good" right now and a very favourable schedule is looking positive for us. All this with our young guns playing extremely well

Last night, 10 of the 20 players dressed were 25 yrs or under

Shhhhh..............don't tell the tank heroes

I'd rather a top 5 draft pick than a 4 and out.

But if it's the Horvats, Baertschi's, McCanns, Huttons etc leading us there and not the cliche Burrows and older players.

Thats just as good if not better and I'll take the playoffs.

Is there more than one of the players you mentioned?

I would rather watch real good hockey and invest my time cheering, not all draft picks work out, and in order for you to get that top one.....you have to watch real bad hockey....no thanks lets try for an underdog run postseason.

hey, you never know.

Lots of divisonal games in the last two month. These game will be the difference between a playoff spot and a top 10 pick.

Personally I dont see us getting a playoff spot unless it's a wild card spot. Anahiem is starting to surge up the standings, LA is a lock, and San Jose has been playing really good the last 2 weeks or so.

Look let's not get carried away. Burr, Dorsett, Daniel and Vbrata were EVERY BIT as good as the youngsters in Boston. Hansen is coming back from injury and can be excused a couple of games not up to his usual standard.

I'm getting a bit tired of all this "young is great and vets are sh--t, garbage"

Don't forget how the NHL officiates games involving Californian teams!

But will you cheer this team on during those 4 games or pout about our draft position.

I think that the home heavy schedule will help the Canucks to refine their game and team's system with many injured players coming back soon.   We'll be stronger for it because November and December is behind us with too many road games and they were fatigued.   I can see a big difference in their overall  play.   One more game then come back for a home game before a long layoff for next 9 days.

I'm sorry, but meeting a team like San Jose or Arizona in round one doesn't exactly send shivers down my spine. If the Canucks make the playoffs, and they win a round. This team could be VERY attractive for free agents this summer (and therefore, getting top 5 talent).

Exactly my thoughts. I don't give 2 sh**s about people saying I'm not a true fan, I'd rather tank than have another vet team show up with a pitiful effort and get bullied out of the first round of the playoffs. However, since this team has lots of youth and they are supporting the twins very well, I definitely would be happy with a playoff berth so the young guys can see what kind of dog fight the playoffs are.

For better or worse, I think we'll make the playoffs. If we get in as second or third in the pacific we'll have a decent chance at getting to the second round. That experience could prove to be invaluable to the young players.

It's always better to make the playoffs then not IMO. Especially with new young players in the lineup. The more they win the better. I'd rather more of a winning environment and a later pick then losing on purpose. Thank God management agrees. They realize half of development is mental. This tank talk is retarded.

Yeah, I remember at the start of this season, management was talking about how the schedule would get easier down the stretch this year. So there's really a decent enough chance we play well enough to make it to the postseason.

I just hope ownership doesn't put too much pressure on Benning if we're close to a playoff spot at the deadline. We need JB to be selling off expiring contracts and not holding on to players that might help this year.

We can't afford to have assets walk away for nothing as UFAs.

As for tanking or not tanking, I'm fine with whatever happens. If we finish poorly, we get a good pick (and a shot at the lottery). If we finish strong (and still move veteran assets), then it'll be great to see what this young group can do in he playoffs and it will give valuable experience to the new core.

Just so long as we don't carry dead weight pending UFAs into the playoffs to try to earn ownership a couple extra postseason home games.

Ideally, the youngsters carry this team down the stretch to a playoff spot and then show some promise for the future with solid postseason performances. And JB moves a bunch of veterans at the deadline (allowing us to play all the youngsters) and then we go into the draft with "volume" picks (because I trust Benning to score a decent percentage of "hits" if he has enough picks available).

The nightmare scenario is the Canucks keeping all the vets (including pending UFAs) and Benning buying rentals (and spending picks) at the deadline to support this year's run. This seems highly unlikely based in everything JB has said. Which is good because my head would likely explode if it happened.

Regardless of what happens down the stretch, it should be fun to watch (both on and off the ice).
