Daniel needs a Center who can cycle: That's Vey

*Buzzsaw*

Yeah I know Daniel scored two goals last game, but those goals had nothing to do with McCann being on his line.

The first was a result of Hansen and Tanev, the second Dorsett and Vey.

I'm a big fan of McCann, he's a tough nosed kid with lots of skills, but I think he is mismatched with Daniel, and from watching Daniel, I can see that he's getting frustrated.  I see him start the typical Sedin 'give and go', only with McCann, the return pass never happens.  Neither is McCann working the cycle game, Hansen and Daniel are the only ones to get it going.

McCann is primarily a shooter, he gravitates to the open ice in front of the net, and he doesn't by nature have the short pass/cycle gam which Daniel is used to well established.  Plus he doesn't win a lot of faceoffs.

It makes no sense to break up the Horvat line, and Zalewski's not in the game... so that leaves Vey, who actually happens to have a lot of the skills needed to play with Daniel.  He does cycle the puck well, and he is primarily a passer.

Yeah, the third line has had some success lately, but I believe most of that is the chemistry between Burrows and Etem, Vey is less of a factor.  Plus it is more important to for Daniel to have opportunities as a result of Vey's efforts than Burrows or Etem... Daniel is much more likely to bury his chances.

McCann is better to suited to the third line, let him work with Etem and Burrows and learn his craft.

It's probably only going to be one more game till Sutter gets back and Daniel has an experienced center, but in the meantime, the substitute for Henrik should be Vey.

Edit....  Oops...  Center not Winger:blush:

I agree with you post about the proper centre, McCann has done a great job when playing first line duties...But Sedin

are always on cycle on offence..You can see Daniel is frustrated and poor McCann is also frustrated,,

Please try Vey with Daniel and Etam and Vey have not really connected yet....

Sure liked the way Jake played in Boston, so fast and beats guys on the outside and drives hard to the net..

I still would trade Hamhuis at trade deadline??? We are still in playoff race without him now,,

We need to get draft picks or young player in return...SO trade Hamhuis and Prust, Virbata...

I agree. I don't think Jared is a good fit. Vey is a better fit but he's paired with etem and they're doing well with Burr.... So tough to break them up.

No doubt, we finally got bur and very going don't mess with it.

It saddens me looking at the list of centres we have available for Daniel. I guess ultimately, whoever can create room and feed him in the offensive zone the best is who deserves to be in that position at this point. I swear I was reading these forums 2 weeks ago and Vey was being armchair GM shopped for a bag of pucks.

Surely, if we assume that Sutter's finally back after this game and he slots in on the 1st line, there's not much point in changing the lines around again? Possibly Vey's style is more suited to Daniel's game, but I can't see them developing much chemistry in 1 game. Give Mccann one more game and see how it goes.

Not saying McCann is, but vey isn't physically ready to centre Daniel on a top line for those minutes against the attached competition - at least for any length of time.

i give the edge to Jared based on speed and shot.

vey looks good at the moment where he is.

I'm just happy Vey looks good. He was washed out of the pic for a while...

Its waaaayyyy too early to be bumping him up to a top line. As much as the OP has some somewhat valid points on fit (Jared can most certainly handle the puck and is as skilled a play maker or better). McCann jumped Vey on the depth chart for a reason.

It's a short term solution where we're trying not to mess with the Horvat and Vey lines so they can continue to build chemistry. Before you know it Henrik will be back (or Sutter before him) so it's not as pressing to push buttons right now when wins are happening.
