-NucksFan
During practice this morning Virtanen took a puck to the face after a Hansen shot on goal ricocheted off the post. Virtanen went down but radio is reporting he is ok , he has a black eye but will be in the line up tonight.
gobi
Didn't Hansen also injured somebody at practice before? This isn't the first time this has happened I think.

He face looks way too clean for a hockey player.

HerrDrFunk
Jake ain't going to be a pretty boy for long if he keeps taking pucks to the face like that. Isn't that his second this season?

Pretty sure this doesn't need its own thread so why don't you make it a GDT so it serves a purpose!

Maybe he should stand next to the next during all shooting drills?

Virtanen said Hansen owes him lunch. Hansen: "That guy doesn't need lunch" LOL at Hansen's "lunch" comment. The rookie hazing continues. The guys have been ribbing Jake about his weight since training camp. Apparently it all started when Jake weighed in with Utica at 228 lbs and was looking pretty winded by 25-30 seconds into most shifts. The Canucks noticed. Virtanen worked hard over the summer and had cut down to 210 lbs by the time camp opened: http://www.vancouversun.com/touch/story.html?id=11268918 The team is apparently still tracking Jake's diet and habits and the guys have been teasing the rookie accordingly (as seen in Hansen's quote). All part of the team bonding experience. And we know that Jake is a very vocal guy who can give as good as he gets, so no need to worry about his feelings. Hansen's joke is actually pretty tame in comparison to some of the stuff that get said around the room. All in good fun.

Dekey Pete
Hansen's lunch comment is gold. It's pretty amazing how fast Jake skates with a frame like he's got (and at that age). Imagine what he'll be able to do after a few years of NHL training and conditioning?
