We haven’t screwed them over. We’ve done our best. The elected officials have screwed them over. It’s high time that people are held to a standard

did we? didn't we vote in people who promised us easy credit? didn't we have major apathy at times over who we selected to run? sure the politicians did the deeds but we put them there.

Semi related, with some editing of course, I thought this was pretty funny… I don't even recall this part of the SOU, coordinating with the 2-faced Chinese government worked out wonderfully.

Was this conspiracy theory created before or after Trump said it was Democratic hoax?

Easy credit was never a platform that enticed me. I’ve always been methodical when voting, with an eye to the future.

Once again, going forward, people need to hold politicians by any means necessary.

I’d hope that the general public, after enduring this stressful time, feel emboldened to notify their governments of who’s really in charge.

totally agree on more engagement with politicians. As a society tho (with exceptions) we've plunged into easy credit and skyrocketing equity thats both made us debt slaves and screwed our kids out of the potential for home ownership in large part. I get why they're mad and don't trust the older establishment. @Boudrias and I disagree on a lot of things but what we've done to ourselves with debt isn't one of them.

We need to be able to bring in secure online voting to make the difference you're talking about imo. Once we can get involved with our thumbs it will be much easier to hold politicians to account. It will come with its own set of problems, and we have to be willing to say no to things like easy credit.

His short list reportedly has the names Amy Klobuchar, Gretchen Whitmer, Catherine Cortez-Masto, Stacey Abrams.

Trump's path to re-election is the exact same path he took last time. He cannot lose any of those states he narrowly won. It's all about 270 in the Electoral College. Every election comes down to 1 question "are you better off than you were 4 years ago". Many Americans are fed up of hearing the BS of this being the "greatest economy of all time" when they can't scrape together $500 to cover an emergency expense. Now the country is in chaos. Trump will be judged by his virus response. The best case scenarios are now projections of 100,000 to 240,000 dead. All these states are going to get a healthy dose of ads showing Trump's lackadaisical planning and dismissive initial response. That will hang around his neck like a burning tire.

First state in question is Pennsylvania. There were nearly 6 million votes cast in Penn. Trump won Penn by less than 45,000 votes. What's he done to improve things in Penn? Biden is from Penn (Scranton) and is very popular there in both metro and rural areas. I think you can safely take Penn from the Trump column and put it in the Biden column. Penn represents 20 electoral votes.

Next up is Michigan. Approx 4.6 million votes cast. Trump won MI by just 10,700 votes. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has an 80% approval rating in MI. Trump has been crapping on her right, left and center. Bragging how he won't talk to "that woman". The federal virus response towards MI has been pathetic so far. Is anyone's life in MI better than it was 4 years ago? Plus I believe you still can't drink the water in Flint. MI represent 16 electoral votes. You can safely take MI out of the Trump column and put it in the Biden column. Especially if Whitmer is Biden's VP.

Next up is Florida. Approximately 9.1 million votes cast. Trump won Florida by just 113,000 votes. Thanks to the piss poor leadership of Trump sycophant Governor Ron De Santis. Florida and their elderly population will be one of the states hardest hit by Covid-19. The state is ripe for a flip. The Obama/Biden ticket won Florida in 2008 and 2012. Florida represents 29 electoral votes.  You can take that out of the Trump column and put it in the Biden column.

Penn        = Trump -20... Biden +20, a swing of 40 electoral votes

Michigan = Trump -16... Biden +16, a swing of 32 electoral votes

Florida      = Trump -29... Biden +29, a swing of 58 electoral votes.

You just have to get to 270.

People should take the emotional arguments out of it and just do the math. Trump won because he had Hillary and her 30 years of baggage to kick around. And she still got 2.9 million more votes than he did. He managed to sprinkle 1/10th of 1% of the total votes cast right across the 3 states where he needed them. And then governed as if he had a massive mandate. It was the political equivalent of threading a needle while standing in the eye of a hurricane. Think he can do that again?

I didn't even bother with Arizona, Wisconsin or North Carolina.

thanks futz, thats a thoughtful look at it.

Abrams would certainly perk up the progressives. Is middle 'merica ready for her as the potus tho in a worst case scenario?

Cortez Mastro looks interesting tho, i hadn't looked her up before. Latino voters would certainly be happy there.

What's True

During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu.

What's False

Despite creating some confusion with his remarks, Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax.

Sounds like a lot of people thought it was an overblown hoax for a while

Well, these clowns will need to answer for their clear unpreparedness regarding this.

Would be great to just apply a scorched earth policy to both political parties. Literally.

It was pretty much tongue in cheek, Pears. Someone seriously used the "Fake News! thing on that very subject a few days ago and I thought I'd have some fun with it.

I figured a Bengals fan would relate to 15 yard penalties....B)

I have a strong suspicion that many Alpha conservative types will react to a potential TRUMP loss in November in much the same way.

I'm not saying it is a guarantee either way who wins in November.   I just feel that people like you will be crying etc.  if TRUMP loses.

Oh no question there will tears from Drumpf fans. I guarantee the orange clown will refuse to leave the White House after he loses as well.

Bill Maher has been making this case for the better part of a year now and one of his questions for potential Trump replacements is always "What are you going to do when he refuses to leave the White House?"

I have an idea: Concerned citizen blockade all of his commercial properties. Golf courses, Hotels, Casinos (does he have any of those still?) Nobody gets in until he gets out...

Well, he’d have no more control over the military, correct? They’d have to physically remove him, no?

I think the gist is that he would claim "irregularities" and try and have the result declared invalid. Not sure what the military (or police) would do in such a situation.

Still, it gives me the warm and fuzzies picturing Bone Spurs being frog-marched out of the WH by a couple of MPs....

The results would still stand, I think. I don’t think he’d be able to supersede election results based on a whim.

I don’t care who wins... Trump is an idiot and Biden has been accused of sexual harassment 8 times. Everyone in America loses no matter who wins the election.
