Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick paid out his first voter fraud bounty to a progressive poll worker in Pennsylvania who caught a Republican voting illegally

  • Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick set a minimum $25,000 bounty in November 2020 for proof of voter fraud.

  • Eleven months later, the first and only recipient received their reward for turning in a case.

  • The winner was a progressive Pennsylvania poll worker who turned in a Republican for voting twice.

One week after the presidential election in 2020 where President Joe Biden toppled former President Donald Trump, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick set a bounty of up to $1 million to anyone who could find instances of voter fraud in the US.

Eleven months later, Patrick's finally doled out his first reward: the minimum amount of $25,000 to a progressive poll worker in Pennsylvania who turned in a man that voted twice, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The poll worker, identified as Eric Frank, told the publication that he received only received the minimum bounty reward because he was told greater rewards were reserved for "bigger fish."

Smarter than your average trumpian

Good people trying to do good things.  That was a nice read.  Sounds like some super happy hippos, that are thriving in that spot.  Why not just leave them alone?  Except if there is an orange one of course; sterilize that one.

these citizen bounty laws are going to further rip the US in 1/2. So there's this one, and the abortion one. Any others out there? bounties for turning your neighbour in for dog poop violations. Actually I'd support that one.

Once again, (and in spite of the whining from Amy Coney Barrett) the conservative majority on the SCOTUS shows once again that they're totally partisan. For a group that goes on and on about how they respect precedence, that seems to be ignored when it comes to Roe v Wade.....<_<

The Supreme Court allowed a Texas law that bars most abortions after six weeks to remain in place for now, but it agreed to hear oral arguments on the law next month.

The law, banning abortions often before a woman knows she is pregnant is in stark contrast to Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark decision legalizing abortion nationwide prior to viability, which can occur at around 24 weeks of pregnancy.
In agreeing to hear the case under such an expedited time frame, the court said Friday that it would focus specifically on the unusual way in which the Texas legislature crafted the law. It also said it will review whether the US Justice Department can challenge the law in court.
Texas officials are barred from enforcing it. Instead, private citizens -- from anywhere in the country -- can bring a civil suit against anyone who assists a pregnant person seeking an abortion in violation of the law.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor criticized her colleagues for once again allowing the law to remain in effect, despite the quick schedule for oral arguments. The expedited schedule, she wrote in a dissent, offers "cold comfort" for women in Texas seeking abortion care "who are entitled to relief now."
She said "the impact is catastrophic."
"I cannot capture the totality of this harm in these pages," Sotomayor said, adding that Texas, "empowered by this Court's inaction," has "thoroughly chilled the exercise of the right recognized in Roe."
"Women seeking abortion care in Texas are entitled to relief from this Court now.," she continued. "Because of the Court's failure to act today, that relief, if it comes, will be too late for many. Once again, I dissent."

I've said many times before that I don't believe there is a God.....I think the fact that a POS like Matt Gaetz and his Dear Leader can remain in positions of power back up my theory.

was listening to an interesting podcast on the issue of how Texas crafted the law. There's no government official to sue, i.e. there's no "Wade" as in the Roe v Wade case. It makes it very hard to challenge the law in court since the Texas government is trying to make itself shielded from a legal challenge. Pretty slimy stuff.

A while back someone posted a photo of all the people who had a hand in making this law and you never saw a more self satisfied collection of narrow minded a$$holes in your life....
