(He's still here, BTW, although he always claims not to be a Trump supporter) His argument was that Trump was not mocking the reporter's disability, he was just mocking him "in general", and that "he does that to everyone"....
thedestroyerofworlds
https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/21/politics/house-january-6-trump-records/index.html House January 6 committee now has all the White House records Trump tried to block (CNN)The House select committee investigating January 6 has received all 700-plus pages from the National Archives that former President Donald Trump had tried to block the panel from receiving. A spokesperson for the National Archives told CNN, "Yesterday evening NARA provided the Select Committee with all the records at issue in the litigation." The Supreme Court cleared the way for the panel to receive these documents earlier this week. The Archives said in a court filing in October that the records Trump wanted to keep secret include handwritten memos from his chief of staff about January 6, call logs of the then-President and former Vice President Mike Pence and White House visitor records. The panel is also hoping to receive from the Archives never before seen drafts of videos Trump made on January 6 before releasing the final video calling on his supporters to leave the Capitol. A committee source would not share what was in the tranche of documents the panel has received. This story is breaking and will be updated. 1
gurn
some people's kids https://edition.cnn.com/2022/01/21/politics/madison-cawthorn-gun-hearing/index.html " Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn was cleaning his gun during a virtual Veteran Affairs committee hearing, an aide to a Democratic member of the committee confirmed to CNN. The aide told CNN that Cawthorn, a freshman lawmaker from North Carolina, was on camera cleaning his gun while the committee was holding a hearing about toxic exposure and burn pits that are killing US soldiers. It's unclear from what location Cawthorn attended the hearing. Cawthorn's actions, which were first reported by the Daily Beast, are not visible from the public link accessing the hearing, but members could see Cawthorn cleaning his gun in the zoom while he was not speaking. I know that most of us would like to see Trump and his loyalists dealt with ASAP. Federal government is often very slow and full of bureaucratic hurdles, but I feel that eventually they will get it right. One thing that the U.S government has is endless resources and manpower. StanleyCupOneDay
One thing to note aside from the actual importance of investigating a violent attempt to overthrow the duly elected US government: Politically for once Democrats are being smart. Having some Republicans on the committee gives media and overall credibility. Especially with both members having voted with Trump 95%+ of the time, they aren’t exactly moderates politically. Having obstructionist Republicans off of it allows the committee to move quicker and not get bogged down in back and forth like the Mueller hearings did. Having an interim report and live house hearings keeps this issue in the headlines during spring and summer. Having a final report released in the fall keeps this investigation at the forefront of voters minds just as they head to the voting booth for midterm elections. The GOP has done this forever, creating investigations specifically designed to damage Democrats. They use their power to their own political advantage regardless of any other factor. Democrats usually never do this and if by some miracle they hold or expand their majorities this committee investigation will be a big reason why. Add to that, they can't seem to pull together enough to stop someone like McConnell and they are toast. I fully expect Trump to win the next election, the state laws are now in place to ensure the electoral college goes Trumps way. No point in even voting in some states. The more you try to hate something the more you become it. https://www.npr.org/2022/01/14/1073215412/christian-nationalism-donald-trump been saying it for a long time, many people in the US want a theocracy. They either don't care, or are too stupid to understand your point. The more annoying ones are the republican enablers that are willing to play with this fire just to line their pockets. Anyone that calls themselves, or thinks of themselves, as a christian nationalist is a hypocrite. You can't be both things at the same time.

You would think his cognizance would be noted by normal GOP voters after his exchange with Hannity we could hope that's not the case. About the only thing that prevents him from getting in is an orange suit.
