amplified0ne
Our coach next year better be Darryl Sutter because we are going to icing a bunch of plumbers and Darryl has proven with an elite goalie, he can take you to the cup finals by icing a bunch of plumbers. Easy now. The trade is the trade, the playoffs are the playoffs. You are you, and I am me. Wait.....that's not it. I have a feeling that it does have something to do with it. But it's nothing more than a feeling. And frankly stawns, I can't fight this feeling anymore. I forgotten what I started fighting for. Exactly... JB is just trying to move as many MG guys as he can. so why wouldn't you look fwd to a player who put up better numbers and can play a solid defensive game? Kraken70
I just spoke to a friend of mine who's a Calgary fan. He thanks JB for his contribution to Calgary's cause. He said Granlund was never really a great fit in Calgary but hopes he does better in Vancouver. He said, so far Calgary fans are excited to get Shink. Spaling is just a depth player who is also a ufa at the end of the year. Sj took in more $ than they shipped out. Basically Polak for 2 seconds. Hamhuis is much better than Polak imo and he's highly regarded by teams around the league. Hansen is probably one the best of the versatile players in the league. At 2.5 he is a BARGAIN. He would be worth a late 1st easy. But I actually hope the Nucks hold onto him for another year. Those dozens of versatile fwds are pretty valuable btw. Raffi Torres is actually negative value, and if you think Hansen is worth a 1st rounder then Spaling is also worth a 1st, as his numbers aren't much behind Hansen's when you factor in games played, and Spaling is younger AND plays centre. Plus he didn't rack up freebies playing with the twins. So again, Polak is not worth two 2nd rounders, unless you can state that Spaling is worth nothing while also stating that depth forwards are valuable. Which is it? It's not even a goal every two games My mistake, read the wrong line. But by those numbers they're comparable, one in a position, again; where our next call up is Higgins or Kenins vs having 8 centers already in our org. A year ago, Hunter was injured and couldn't produce at the rate he is now. None of the players that were ahead of him on that list last year are in the system. They're either on the team (which no longer makes them a prospect), or elsewhere. That list is redundant and proves nothing in regards to the trade that just happened. IMO, Hunter deserved a shot more than Jake.

Do u not think CBJ would have atleast strongly considered moving him for Shinkaruk? And what would u honestly think about that move rather than this one if it was a possibility? I'm not a Blue Jackets fan nor a member of their management so I can't tell you if they would consider a one for one in that scenario. If they did, I don't know if I'd be happy because I see a guy like KR and all I see is size.

Potential is more than just points. Either the Canucks made a stupid ass trade, because it wasn't too long ago they were touting Hunter as one of the best prospects in the franchise, or they were blowing a lot of hot air and thought he was crap all along. Either way I would've rolled the dice with Hunter instead of trading for redundant parts because that's what Granlund is. He doesn't do anything that we don't already have guys doing. That's why people are pissed. and what would Shink have done? He doesn't have the defensive acument to play bottom 6, and Granlund was a more prolific scorer at the same age, in the same league. I'm baffled that you and your ilk completely ignore the fact that Granlund is equal to, or better than Shinkaruk, offensively.

Noseforthenet
This whole situation smells like another thing that the Flames tried a couple years ago. Roman Cervenka. Weisbrod a part of that situation too? Flames take a chance on a player doing well in Europe. He comes here and messes the bed. I am POSITIVE Shinkaruk would have made 3rd line LW next season. The only way he may not have is if we were to have drafted Patrick Laine. Even then it would be iffy. Now that spot is gifted to Rodin. He better prove he can play on the smaller ice surface to a more physical game. Just...this whole thing stinks. He doesn't even touch the NHL after a couple of years in NA. Bolts back to Sweden and now by the sounds of it, he will be gifted the 3rd line LW spot after a couple good years in the SEL. He sounds like a whiner. Did this team just put their faith in a whiner?!

Of course they are, they now have a solid top 6 potential winger to go with what is already an amazing forward group of youth with Bennett Gaudreau Monahan etc. And before people make statements like can't wait to see the smurfs bowled over by a larger team. They're all on a par size wise thus far with the 2010 cup winning hawks. Just missing their Hossa
asian player
Let's take a second to look at this trade objectively... I can guarantee 99% of posters whining here have NEVER seen Granlund play and I'm willing to bet most have never seen Shinkaruk either, other than his highlight clips. Granlund is a very solid, versatile number and has put up solid numbers in the AHL, and they are really not far off from the numbers Hunter 'future 40 goal scorer' Shinkaruk is putting up. But this is only if we look at this trade in isolation. It's foolish to assume this is our only deal. There are other trades being worked out. Every time Benning makes a trade, we see people running around, screaming. After a couple months, they slowly realize there was a purpose for the trade and they realize how smart the trade was. What has Benning done for people to doubt him so quickly? Seriously, I only had to read the first page before I had to resist myself from grabbing a knife to slit myself. Some of the things people are saying are just absolutely brainless... Btw... If I see another comparison of Granlund to Vey, I will do some bad things...
