Overall, this was quite a good mix. All rock songs with really good melodies and harmonies.

7.75/10

I'll guess Falcon, because I don't really know that many people in this thread that like rock haha

"Hey, man, where ya going? I'm incendiary too!"

Almost Famous, when Will meets Stillwater. Classic.

You guess right! There was supposed to be one more track, but it would't have affected who you guessed, probably just confirmed it further.

I'm gonna have to be more tricksy next mix X change.

Bravo. I actually didn't realize how many remix songs I put in until I made the video, but I didn't really have time to go back and change things because the rendering took almost a full day. <_<

Next mix will be better, I promise.

Oh, and with SPZRKT, he's actually got some pretty good stuff and has said in one of his songs from a couple years ago that he's not trying to be the Weeknd or Frank Ocean, but I see where you're coming from.

Don't worry about appealing to other people's taste in the exchange imo. It's all about finding new music after all, right?

Oh, I know that. And I'm happy for the music I received. But I legitimately wanted more variety after I saw my mix list but didn't have enough time to go back. :P

1. Shania Twain - Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under

- I wonder what ever happened to Shania..haven't heard the name in years

- This song reminds me of something I'd hear at some restaurant that specializes in BBQ

- Country not really my thing though.

- 4/10

2.  The Pogues - If I Should Fall From Grace With God

- Seems like the ultimate FTB song before FTB was a thing.

- I actually liked it.  Accordion did the song justice

- 7/10

3. Dropkick Murphys - Take It and Run

- Definitely FTB and can make out the connection with The Pogues

- I've always liked the Dropkick Murphys sound even if I've never really listened to them.  They seems like a Ramones meets Irish folk/pirate

- 7/10

4. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem - The Moonshiner

- We've hit sail and R goin fer the booty in the sea

- This mix is starting to become a concept mix based around variations of folk. Colloquially, I've always referred to this type of music (stuff about alcohol, finding treasure, shipping up to boston, etc) as 'pirate music' - just reminds me of that

- 6/10

5. Sinead O'Connor - The Foggy Dew

- Concept mix confirmed.  More Irish folk

- Although the lack of pirate angle was a bit refreshing.

- Not bad overall, seems like a decent song that would be featured in a Grade 7 history movie on Canadian settlers.

- 6/10

6.  The Original Dubliners - Finnegan's Wake

- I liked it.  True folk

- Maybe a bit more authentic to folk than what I've listened to so far.. but the Clancy bros sound legit.

- 7/10

7. Stiff Little Fingers - Suspect Device

- Angst ish punk.  Or so it sounds like.

- Very abrasive, aggressive, and very "screw authority"

- 6/10

8. Street Dogs - Tobes Got a Drinking Problem

- A bit different from what I've heard but the themes and topics are still the same

- Harmonica soft intro transition into punk verse was good.

- I get an NOFX/Rancid/Dropkick Murphys vibe out of this one.

- 7/10

9.  Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies

- Haha its funny.  At around the 6th or 7th song, I asked myself if Flogging Molly was to come.

- Saw them a few years ago at a festival.  Didn't know much about them and still don't know a lot now but they had good energy and the crowd loved it.

- Song itself isn't bad and it fits the whole Irish folk/pirate theme (for me anyways)

- 7/10

Total: 57/90.  The mix was pretty refreshing as I've usually only received rap/RnB/hip-hop mixes in all 3 previous exchanges.  I appreciate folk but some of its a tough listen.  Nonetheless, very good.

I guess my coin as the curator.  @AV's Coin

It's mine!!!!!!!!!

a few fun facts:

1. Shania had her farewell tour this past summer.

2. dunno what FTB means but this is def a FTEnglish song.

4. Clancey's were big in the 60's-70's pretty trad. irish folk band

5. the Foggy Dew is about the easter uprising of 1916. The vid is clips for the film the wind that shakes the barley about the Irish war of independence and Irish Civil war.

6.Dubs were also big in the 60's-70's.

7. YES! SLF are from Belfast and this song came out during height of the Troubles. very much punk.

8. Mike, was the lead singer in DKM on their first CD, then left to be a fireman, then quit that and started Street Dogs.

Thanks for the review! glad you didn't hate it. :)

FTB means 'for the boys'.  Basically, the songs reminded me of pump up songs or stuff to get everybody going and alert.  Stuff to get the boys going.

But yeah, most folk (if they're even considered folk) I know of is more the mainstream stuff such as the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons and a few others.

But as I said, after reviewing rap/hip-hop and the like for the past couple, it was a good change.  Also, had no idea about the Sinead O'Connor song.  Pardon my ignorance and attempt to make a funny joke out of it.

it's okay. If you don't know it's prob not supereasy to pick up from the lyrics.

Irish folk normally has a strong story behind it, sometimes it's fun/funny but others are pretty serious and sad. The Pogues have some pretty upbeat songs. Also cool that  you got to see Flogging Molly.

One of my favorites all time. 10/10. I got into this song from the Grosse Pointe Blank soundtrack which features songs by The Clash, Violent Femmes, The Jam, Specials, Townshend and more. Actually I could have made the soundtrack my playlist and saved some time! 8.5/10 Classic song from a classic movie. I was shocked when my niece told me this was one of three choices for their grad song this year! The other two were also pre 2000 and I think one was Forever Young.

Fun playlist. Lots of songs I listened to in my yute! 8.5/10 overall.

I'll say its from the Spice Lord. Kazmanian Devil?

Found the song fairly repetitive with not a lot to capture my attention. Would rate it 4.5/10. Didn’t hate it, but didn’t like it either.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIJwXgNdWbI

I haven’t heard a lot of Pearl Jam, but I appreciate what they brought to the table in the 90’s. I liked the key changes they threw in to mix things up a bit. Song is fairly sad, which adds to the story of it for me. 7.5/10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pciFAQ0VHTo

Guitar riff very repetitive for the first minute and a half. Thankfully they decide to mix it up about half way through and add the electric guitar more prominently. 1st half of the song is a 3/10, second half is 7/10, so overall 5/10.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc3G_TSkLN0

Decent lyrically, not super repetitive musically also so I rate it a 6/10.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crIk87-mPzY

Not a huge fan of this. I’ll give it points for originality and at least having different sounds all the way through. 5/10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isP8pNby39A

Not terrible. Kudos for it being relatively lighthearted. I do prefer his older stuff though. 6/10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d8SzG4FPyM

I’d say this is the second best song on this list, it isn’t quite so repetative. Lyrically, it is somewhat repetitive, however it suits their style. 7/10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26wrvblgGP0

Classic AC/DC - don’t really need to say much else. - 7.5/10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YSGcWSTblw

I would say this is fairly similar to everything else in this mix. I enjoyed the breakdown at 1:50, so I’ll rate it 6.5/10

Overall 55/90 - decent mix, but for me stylistically it’s not generally my taste. Good to broaden the music horizon a little though. =)

Going to guess @AV's Coin based on how he reviewed my earlier mix.
