Dr Green Lawn
To Carolina Alex Edler To Vancouver 2016 1st Round Pick (LAK) Roland McKeown Edler would really solidify the Hurricanes defense. He would slot in on the second pairing behind Hanifin and Faulk. Hanifin Faulk Edler Murphy Slavin Wisniewski
Odd.
I'd probably do that. Makes good sense for both teams.

Solidifies Carolina's defence while at the same time giving us room on ours for fresh blood. Not to mention how awesome it would be to have 2 first round picks in this deep draft. Edler would have to waive his NTC. That's a big IF. I doubt he would unfortunately...

Plus he'd be second fiddle to Hanifin and Faulk which would make him excell IMO.
elvis15
Edler would not waive for Carolina and I'm certainly not doing that for LA's first, which will be at the very end of the round. Mckeown is not nearly good enough to offset the difference. After what we saw around Hamhuis at the deadline and the Canucks not even answering Dallas about their last offer, do you think the Canucks would ask Edler to waive for a less than full value offer? Blue Jay 22
We can't afford to lose Edler unless we are getting a sure NHLer defensemen back. There is no way of knowing how Mckeown would turn out or perform immediately. I would do that deal if you replaced Mckeown with Pesci or Slavin and if we added a mid round pick to entice Carolina though.

D-Money
1) Canucks need to be adding top-4 D-men, not subtracting them. McKeown and the 1st won't be ready to contribute regularly until the Sedins are done. 2) Edler, with his contract and cap hit, is probably worth more than a late 1st and a good (but not great) prospect. 3) Why would Edler waive for Carolina? If Canucks are re-signing Hamhuis, then moving Edler makes sense - but I'd much rather go for Hamonic, if possible.

flickyoursedin
I'd do it depending on who was still there at that LA draft spot.

goblix
Seems like an alright trade... doubt Edler would want to play with any of the Staals and vice versa after his suspend-able hit in the worlds a while back. And also doubt Edler waives his NTC
Crabcakes
McKoewn is the sort of player who Benning has been picking up but he has been trading prospects or picks. A mature asset in his prime like Edler if traded should net a top return. How about a top 4 RHD for Edler? Florida has too many right handers and not enough left handers. Try Edler for Gudbranson or Petrovic?
