The future is bright

The Canucks are in rebuild mode. They weren't expected to make the playoffs this year. It's been a lost year. The one bright spots are the young guys. I dins the watch the game tonight but saw that jake got 1 goal 1 assist and. He's been playing solid for the past month and has improved a lot. As much as jarred has not been producing lately, he will have one year of NHL experience under his belt and that is important. Ya he probably should've been sent back to juniors this year but he has gained experience.

Ben Hutton has been amazing all year and arguably are most consistent defender. He has made huge strides this year when no one knew who he was before! Guys like Sven have been producing guys like horvat have been extroardinairy...

Guys the future is very bright! Hopefully we can add Matthews (or at least a top 5 pick) and we have a solid core for years to come with boeser producing with demko, Guance etc.

anyways guys, let me know what you guys think.

Virtanen was a beauty tonight.   Couldn't believe my eyes.  Made me extremely excited for the future.

Horvat, Virtanen, Hutton, McCann Gaunce.   They all looked awesome.

We NEED a top 5 pick this year.  That would really solidify this young group.

Oh, they were definitely expecting playoffs this year... make no doubt about that...

We aren't adding Mathews. The chances are pretty much nonexistent that we land him.

The kids are alright, tho.

I'm fine if we don't get to pick Matthews. We are pretty good in the middle. What we're lacking is a future #1 left winger, and Laine is that guy.

In 3-4 years:

Laine - McCann - Boeser

Baerstchi - Horvat - Virtanen

Gaunce - Granlund - Etem

Kenins - Cassels - Grenier

Hopefully that top line in 3 years is

Laine - Stammer - Boeser

My thoughts are of the group that pushed back the rebuild and how much farther along we could have been right now.

But would the young guys be developing as well? It could go either way, end of the day, they are bringing talented young guys and have surrounded them with solid veterans...best way forward IMHO

lol McCann is good but i don't know what he's shown to prove he can be a top line center.. let alone boeser who haven't even have a game at the pro level yet. our future is good.. but compared to half the league it's not that good

Baertschi, Granlund, Horvat, Virtanen, Etem, Gaunce, Hutton. These are all guys who look like they'll be impact players for the Canucks for a long time.

Impact doesn't mean top line just that they'll fill a role well on the team.

It sucks Hansen was hurt cuz I think a middle 6 of Baertschi-Granlund-Virtanen and Gaunce-Horvat-Etem would actually be pretty good.

I've got high hopes for McCann, Pedan, Tryamkin, and Boeser too but they haven't been given a real chance yet.

(I don't think anyone will argue leaving McCann on the 4th line while Vey spent 2 months manning the 3rd was giving McCann a chance but there's also just no room for McCann after Sutter returns so I think we won't see much of him after this season for a while)

So yes, the future looks bright. Let's say we get 4th overall and draft Tkachuk.

In like 3 years we have:

Tkachuk-Horvat-Boeser

Baertschi-McCann-Virtanen

Gaunce-Sutter-Etem

Zalewski-Granlund-Grenier

Hutton-Tanev

Tryamkin-Subban

Pedan-Larsen

Markstrom

Demko

And that's just what's in the system RIGHT NOW. Not including free agents and whatever else gets drafted till then.

That's impressive enough to be optimistic about imo.
