Gurn
Even if OJ could be tried again, the chain of custody on this knife would make any DNA inadmissible anyway, imo. Too long ago, too much opportunity for tampering.

Still an open case. If they find foreign DNA on it, another person will be arrested and tried for the murder. Then OJ's civil trial "conviction" can be overturned and he'll get to keep all of his future earnings instead of it going to the Goldman family. Cerridwen
Veddy, veddy inta-resting..... If it does turn out to have been involved in the murders of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman (ie: DNA from both victims and Oh Frickin' Halleluja, OJ Simpson's DNA as well - from the cut on his finger) , I hope this 'cop' is somehow held liable for holding onto evidence from a murder. If there is DNA evidence showing this knife was involved and used and shows OJ Simpson as having been involved ...hopefully it will finally, once and for all, shut up all the people whining and complaining about him being framed and how the race card was the reason he was charged. The rational and logical people know who was responsible for the murders and who has been guilty from day one.

If his DA is found with foreign DNA from another person though, OJ can't be tried again but any accomplices can still be tried. This could be another clusterf*ck in the making. DNA matching isn't like a Google search, names don't just pop up. They'd have to build an entire new case, is there even any other suspects? Waste of time and money, just like Senate committees on steroids and baseball.

If it was someone else OJ should ask for a new trial on his "getting my own stuff back" case, as the perception he got away with murder must have had an effect on his later criminal conviction. Oh, OJ Simpson is guilty as h*ll, but I've always thought that he may have had an accomplice. Killing two people at once would be tough. You'd think one could get away while the other was getting murdered.

I know he can't be tried again but it would finally once and for all shut the mouths of those proclaiming his innocence from day one based on nothing more than obfustication and outright lies from his defense team. It would be most interesting to note whether or not there would be another person's DNA on the knife who was not previously connected to the investigation. Then again, it may be absolutely nothing to do with the murders at all though it is rather 'coincidental' that a knife was found buried on the grounds of the home of a man charged with two brutal murders and the murder weapon (in this case, a knife) had never been recovered in the case. OJ is guilty as a motherfrigger, but if only one other person's DNA is found on the knife, then he has a decent chance of getting his civil judgment overturned. No way Goldman was fast enough or strong enough to get away from the Juice if Nicole is already incapacitated.

I was never sure that he could chase down a young man all by himself. That's why I always thought that there could possibly have been a second person involved. Gurn
I wonder if OJ's lawyers have been keeping track of all the trouble, sometimes violent trouble, former head injured ball players get into? Mitigating circumstances in regards to his violent behaviour at the Florida hotel?
SabreFan1
I'm disappointed that nobody thinks my Johnny Cochran joke is funny. Probably doesn't help that it's more than a bit insensitive.

Wouldn't that be something.... I think it's actually appalling that he could be determined not responsible (I refuse to use the words 'innocent' because if his DNA along with another previously unrelated person's DNA is found, he's still not 'innocent') in the civil case. And it's not like any of the recipients of the award in the civil case have received much..the Goldman's, 22 years later, have still only received less than 1% of what was awarded them in the civil case. I see where you're coming from, though.... I'd love to see a second person arrested and then start singing like a canary confirming what so many have known all along!
