Anti Benning rage on Twitter and other media.

Over on some other media's, (HF and Twitter) there is a very formidable group of reasonably informed Canucks fans who really think Benning is the second coming of Mike Milbury. They really think that our franchise is being destroyed before our eyes by Lindenning.

I am in the  group that is still grappling with what to think of this regime. The ragers has some good points though.

Benning and his regime are so out of touch with the CBA that they didn't realize they could LTIR Frankie Corrado and ended up losing him on waivers for no reason. They didn't realize that they had to submit papers for the young guys on the team to play in the AHL playoffs and now the deadline has passed. This is after Benning specifically said that they would be sending them down.

Its as simple as this.

We can already see that Benning knows things that Gillis didn't regarding drafting and talent evaluation.

And we can also see that Gillis knows things that Benning doesn't about the CBA.

It is a shame that we could not have a hybrid of the 2 regimes. Aquilini should have mandated a hybrid. By keeping Lowrance Gilman in the fold.

Gillis should have been canned for things like the Burrows contract but one thing he did well was surround himself with people that knew things he didn't like Gilman.

That's why I don't get our owner.  Why did he TWICE hire rookie GMs?  Clearly, the first time failed, so he does it again?  JB is a great scout; he proves that every draft.  As a GM, he clearly makes a lot of rookie mistakes.  I'm certain our owner didn't get the wealth he has by having JB types around him?

you lost me at "reasonably informed".  None of the haters I've rad posts from are "reasonably informed".  A "reasonably informed" fan would see the plan benning has laid out and the steps he has made in the execution of said plan.

Suspended ? Really ?  Why?

HF board it was delete and the Account got suspended, I'm pretty sure Baumerman was hit with a suspension when he posted it.

Because it's offensive and crosses the line. Some people are just to immature to know where the line is.

Lol. Not a Benning hater , but I hardly think it's crossing the line. Might be a bit immature but that's about it

Fired? For what, actually keeping his word to a player? When Burrows took a discount several years ago and played for 2 million a season he was told, keep playing like you are, and I'll make sure you get paid for it on your next deal.

I also heard a rumour that the management couldn't figure our their cap situation so they needed help from the league. Is this true?

You heard a rumour and want to know if it's true?

What corroboration would be sufficient, one way or the other, to shut down this question? Who would actually know? How can you know it isn't slander that is being repeated?

That's how these things begin....that's how these things take on a life of their own. Facts be damned. Proof be damned.

This idea that Burrows got a "goodwill" contract is malarkey. He was paid what it would take to keep him. These "2 way" "grinder" "intangible" players were going for a premium in around that time. (Callahan, Clarkson, Brown)

what did you expect to sign Burrows for ? 1.5 million ?

Well we can always turf Weisbrod and bring in an assistant who knows the cap, and the CBA. I don't think it was an issue not knowing the CBA. I think he guessed wrong that Corrado would make it through waivers, just like he guessed wrong on Cracknell.

Considering that Weber, Prust, and Higgins all went through waivers and weren't picked up. To be fair the waiver wire has been really odd this season of who cleared and who didn't.

It's the guy's plan that pisses off the reasonable fan, not the exectution.  JB feels we are better off getting these 22-26 year old cast offs from other franchises instead of younger prospects (who still might have higher ceilings than what we traded for) and picks.  To add to this lunacy he believes we will be a team that is competing for a playoff spot, and he's not at all worried about drafting in the middle of the rounds as a result.  He thinks he can get elite talent with those later picks.  It's a HORRIBLE plan!  We are going to be stuck in the middle for a very long time because of JB's arrogance.  That's what upsets the informed fan.

neither of which is really much of a loss.  Corrado is clearly a fringe NHL'er and there's already enough of thjose on the d corp

The rookie skaters are making tons of mistakes and not producing as expected yet they are given the longest leash of all by fans. Yet rookie/2nd year front office staff and coaches have their feet held to the fire for every minute error. Seems like a double standard to me.

You are the only arrogant one in this statement.
