Patrick Jane
The deal works out to an average annual value of $2.9 million a season. A 29-year-old native of Orebro, Sweden, Gunnarsson is in his seventh National Hockey League season and second with the Blues. Taken in the seventh round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Gunnarsson was traded to the Blues at the 2014 draft as part of a trade for defenceman Roman Polak. In 62 games with the Blues this season, Gunnarsson has two goals and seven assists in 17:36 minutes a night. Over his NHL career, Gunnarsson has notched 15 goals and 71 assists in 304 games. Gunnarsson has represented Sweden at the world championships three times, claiming a silver medal and a pair of bronzes.

Gstank29
Interesting. He plays 4/5 type of minutes from St louis, this doesn't make the Sbisa contract look too bad right now does it.

Ossi Vaananen
One of the pending UFAs i was interested in. It will be interesting to see the market thin out.

oldnews
Toronto was stupid to move him for Polak - but got lucky to get more for Polak than he's worth. The minute Gunnarsson left, Phaneuf's days in Toronto were numbered. Anyway, a good, responsible 4-5 tweener at this point.

One is 25 one is 29. I know you hate Sbisa but he hasn't been that bad this year. Sbisa lowest offer would have been 3.2 million, that is because of the contract Anahiem gave him. If you're going to use a top 90 salary then you have to account for all those guys in the 20-24 range that have yet to sign big contracts.

The Canucks should have just given him a QO and seen if his performance improved. I was of the opinion that they should not have qualified him in the first place. Signing Cody Franson in the summer would have been better value. Even if Franson is not much better defensively, his shot from the point could have been useful on the PP. And that is because they have players named Bowmeester, Pietrangelo, and Shattenkirk in front. Canucks fans are so uninformed, seriously. So in reality, it looks Sbisa's contract look bad. 2.9 vs 3.6mil.
