RFA - MacKinnon (Proposal)

Recommended Posts

Now I know, that many will say we can never do this, but a good old college try is worth it if the reward is this big horse!

Nathan MacKinnon is 19 years old and is exactly what we need, in this Pacific Division

My proposal is that we sign him for a 7 year $50,000,000 contract, which will cost us a 2017 - 1st, 2017 -2nd, and a 2017 -3rd as compensation.

Nathan along with our 2016 1st round pick.............Chychrun, Sergachyov or Juolevi, makes us a much better team going forward, and on that will be able to compete with all of the Pacific teams, now and in the future.......

I think that it is worth a shot , and I don't think Colorado will counter our offer.............Now if Benning thinks that it won't be enough, I would be willing to make a higher offer...............

With the Sedin's possibly coming off the books in 2 years, this is a no brainer if it works!......even for 2 - 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd, if we get McKinnon, no way we are at the bottom of the pile!

Buy a decent UFA Dman, and we are off to the races

GT...........we have to try! If MacKinnon is signed for that kind of money, it will certainly upset their internal budget.....and we can afford more..........that kind of talent just doesn't become available that often.

You must try everything to build, as for loosing the picks............would you trade 2 -1st,a 2nd and a 3rd for MacKinnon?

I sure the heck would.........offer him 9 mill, no-trade clause

The NHL would not go ape $&!#e over us doing that............team dump on other teams all the time....aka TDL

Take this draft and pick all Dmen........cause that is all we would are missing

CDC is too afraid to try!

I think it's safe to assume we'll be a lottery team next year.

We had a lot of things go wrong this year, and if you add a Dman and MacKinnon to our team, along with our 2016 picks and we would be a very close to a top 12 team, with a very good stable that is very close to maturing........

The trouble has been in the past, never drafting Dmen in any round, and MacKinnon is a guarantee, those first are not.......

Can't believe I am saying that, but for elite talent...it is worth it!

I wish I could share your optimism. Being a fan since the 80's I cannot.

And that contract is going to be horrible, not to mention losing some very valuable picks

I have played a lot of hockey over the years, and have been on teams that just didn't have enough gas....we added a couple of players and all of a sudden we are near the top.........it has to be high end talent to get over the hump, but MacKinnon is all of that!

God no I wouldn't. He's a fantastic player, but loosing those kind of picks when we will likely be in great drafting positions is crazy. Not to mention drafting is Bennings strongest ability.

Ok....why?

9 million dollars for a player that wouldn't be competing for a cup for another 3-5 years. Really do i need to explain this any more. Mackinnon has done nothing to earn that kind of contract.

2 first round picks that will most likely be lottery picks or in the early teens  for a player who wouldn't help us "get over the bump" for another 3-5 years.

Ok, look you crazy guy, you!

Take a look at our team.......look at all the injuries...........look at how well the kids are playing........we need high end players......

Think about Mackinnon, Broeser, Virtanen, Horvat, Baertschi, Hutton, Demko, Granlund, Etem,  etc.... we are doing pretty good with the young guys......

Not all first round picks turn out........just over 50%............MacKinnon is 100%, and elite........don't worry about giving up one year of picks.....it is the multiple years of no picks that kill you!

He may not even be a centre.  He looks like a much better winger.  even then, when ever I watch him, he plays IMHAO, the game with his head down.  I would love to have him as a winger, but not for two firsts.

GT......I am saying if you add MacKinnon,,,,,you are no longer a lottery team......that is my bet, especially if you add Demers as well
