Jake Bean or Jakob Chychrun

Assuming Cychrun drops to 7th overall- which he shouldn't because Edmonton should pick before us and i will literally lose my mind if they pick another 6 foot something skilled forward. But the reality is Jakob has slowly fallen from 2nd or 3rd in overall scouting to 7th. I'm not sure if this is because he has had a soft year but if both are available should we go for Jake Bean. I mean the dudes half a foot taller than me yet he only has 5 pounds on me but anyone who puts up 62 points in 67 games as dman even in junior level is ridiculous right? Dude has parallel stats and draft rankings as erik Karllson. is that not what we need? A puck moving defenseman who plays a great two way game an puts up nearly a point per game? Sorry for spelling and grammer im a little drunk  from the game and this is my first post but who would you guys pick if their both available. I plan to be posting more.

Hard. Chychrun though. He's all-around. Apparently, Bean isn't good defensively. Chychrun can defend, be physical, be clutch during crucial times, and can contribute offensively. He'd fit with us quite nicely too. There's a reason why I feel like him and Sergachev are the best d-man in the draft personally.

No doubt Bean is something with that offense he has, but not exactly all-around.

btw welcome to CDC. If you meet a guy named Gstank, don't ever argue with him ;)

Bean is actually quite okay defensively, just not physical as Chychrun because of his size. Both are quality dmen, but I'd take Chychrun. Sure, Bean puts up better numbers, but Chychrun's a much more developed player already and both have the same growth ceiling imo

Not a fan of trying to defend your stance on something?

and Sergachev is still extremely raw, what he becomes will be dependant on how the team that takes him develops him

150+ pages of draft goodness where you can ask this question:

It might already be answered for you even, since those two have been in the recent discussions there.

Welcome to the boards, take some time to explore and you'll find some of these gems to make your CDC'ing more enjoyable.

Poking fun at ya.

As for the bold, every single prospect is basically that.

There are so many threads about this exact topic already. Go find any generic, "Who is the best D-man in the draft." thread. or any thread about the 2016 Draft. But before I claim that this thread is useless, let me contribute so as to not be useless myself. Chychrun = best D-man in the draft. Okay, now let me say, THIS THREAD IS SO POINTLESS!

Go easy on him. He just paid money to go see a Canuck loss and is enjoying his buzz that he probably spent 50 dollars for on beer alone :P

Say what you want OP!!  (I don't like searching through 150 pages of draft talk either)

Cheers

Welcome bud. I'm with you on drafting Jake Bean if we end up drafting out of the top 5 or 6 anyway.

Sure he put up good numbers but it makes it easier when your d partner is an offensive machine. Sanhiem put up 65 points in 50 games. Sanhiem for the most part was the hitmen pp qb. Remember when edler racked up points with ehrhoff. Or garrison when he played with Campbell. I've said it in another thread but, Bean is good but not elite. There are 3-4 d I would pick  before even considering him.

Funny video billabong, is that from Hot Rod?

Canucks lost last night and CGY and EDM won. I figured the Canucks would be picking 7th or later this year, but I'm hoping for a top 5. Matthews, Laine and Puljujarvi will go top 3. I just don't think the Canucks will be drafting that high - unless they trade up? They're not a great team by any means, but they aren't a terrible team either. If I'm Benning and picking 4th or later, and he's available, I would take Chychrun. This team needs a star D, and along with Hutton, Tryamkin, Pedan, Larsen, Brisebois, etc., we'll be very strong defensively in a few years, for a lot of years. And backed by Markstrom and Demko no less. The Canucks have plenty of good young (future top 6) forwards, and Benning will have more picks to pick up some offensive talent in rounds 2 and on. I trust what he's doing.
