Canada Hockey Place
I know none of these will happen but..... just dreaming I guess. Anyways, 5 trades to reboot the team this off season, resulting in 3 solid D pairings and 4 competitive forward lines. Cap-space wise it should be close... using really lazy math.. BUF: Miller VAN: Franson NYI: 2nd 2016, Sbisa, Pedan VAN: Hamonic NYR: Sutter VAN: Staal* CHI: Etem VAN: Ladd* STL: Dorsett, Vey VAN: Brouwer* Ladd Staal Brouwer Baertschi Horvat Hansen Sedin Sedin Rodin Burrows McCann Virtanen [Granlund, Guance, Zalewski, Kenins, Grenier] Edler Tanev Hutton Hamonic Hamhuis Franson [Tryamkin Biega] Markstrom FA / Cannata / Bachman
thejazz97
Pedan over Biega, Granlund over McCann.
Provost
Easier, yet just as unlikely: - Draft one of the Finnish forwards - Sign Stamkos and Eriksson - Trade away McCann and Horvat for two top 4 D (make them take Higgins and/or Burrows since they are getting cheap ELCs) - Trade away Sbisa and spare depth D (hopefully get near NHL ready D for the AHL who can be brought up without waivers) Sedin-Sedin-Puljujarvi Baertschi-Stamkos-Eriksson Etem-Sutter-Hansen Gaunce-Granlund-Virtanen Grenier-Dorsett Edler-XXXX Hutton-Tanev Tryamkin-XXXX Pedan-Larsen Miller Markstrom Much deeper lineup than this year and also one that is easily a playoff team. cripplereh
I would rather trade for Hamonic whatever less we can and sign Staal not trade him, then use McCann to get Druoin then try to get so many trades involved 2 trades and a free agent signing! Pretty close to what I envision. Wouldn't mind trading McCann but Horvat I'd keep, he'd be our quintessential 2C behind Stammer when Sedins retire. as for the d-corps I wouldn't mind targeting 1 very good RHD but unless if you are going after the anaheim guys I doubt they are available. I'm also not very interested in Eriksson as he'd probably command 5-6m over 4-5 years for a 31 year old The rest of this season will indicate the likely-hood of keeping Hamhuis around for a Hammer -- Tyramkin pairing. Be a pretty good mold to see. Anyways, our second line should easily be the focal point next year and has always been our downfall as a group. Even with Kesler we never truly had a second line worthy to push offence alongside the Sedins. Defence is as well but honestly the defence isn't bad, just needs an offensive style guy to push play and the powerplay over the top. My version: Sedin - Sedin - Hansen Baertschi - Stamkos - 2016 draftpick (if top 3) Granlund - Sutter - Vey? B. Tanev - Horvat - Burrows Dorsett - Grenier Edler - Larsen Hutton - Tanev Hamhuis - Tyramkin Stecher // Biega // Pedan Miller // Markstrom Brendan Tanev and Stecher college UFA signings. Think either can be sent to the AHL without waivers but Tanev seems well enough equipped to NHL duties on a 4th line role. Stecher BC boy with some nice wheels and supposedly pretty good defensively. Larsen can end up being the new Erhoff so I wouldn't mind giving him a shot as well.
Hookman
Am I missing something? Why are we trading roster players for pending UFAs?

IMO those player are probably getting re-signed. IDK? So I guess they're trades for the UFA rights, if the team decides they aren't going to re-sign them. ie CHI paid a 1st 2016 for Ladd, if they decide not to re-sign him, VAN trades Etem to make sure we get Ladd signed. That's quite a bit for just UFA rights, in years past a 6th round pick sufficed as enough and I don't recall a player under contract being apart of a trade ever. Actually neither team can realistically afford to resign either player so it's almost a give they will be UFA, so it doesn't make sense trading for either
