-Vintage Canuck-
Quote Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have signed Right Wing Anton Rodin to a one-year, one-way contract. Rodin, 25, played for Brynas IF Gavle in 2015-16 recording 37 points (16-21-37) and 18 penalty minutes. The 5’11”, 181-pound right winger was also awarded the Gold Helmet Award of the Swedish Hockey League as the League’s Most Valuable Player. Prior to playing in the Swedish Hockey League, Rodin played two seasons in the AHL (2011-13) with the Chicago Wolves, collecting 41 points (14-27-41) in 111 games. On the international stage, Rodin won a bronze medal with Sweden at the 2010 World Junior Championships. He collected 10 points (3-7-10) in six games, ranking tied for seventh in tournament scoring. A native of Stockholm, Sweden Rodin was selected in the second round, 53rd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. http://canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=874858

Interested to see if this kid has evolved enough to transfer his game to the NHL level this time around. 1 year, 1 way contract = low risk. I wonder for how much $ we signed him for? hatedkid666
ayyo. Cant come until next year or else he'd have to clear waivers

greetingsfrombrazil
1 year, 1 way. Would have to clear waivers if he joined the Canucks this season per Elliotte Friedman, so the contract obviously is for the next season. I really like it. Has the potential of being a really good top 9 forward for the Canucks
Kass
Perfect. I really hope he is able to make the transition to the NHL

YOWnuxFAN
I haven't seen him play, but his numbers don't look that special from what I can see; anyone know what we can realistically expect from him?

Warhippy
Only took 7 posts to see him penciled in on the top line this time Seriously, better temper your expectations people. We want him to succeed but his first prolonged scoring drought and most will be very fast to disown him. He could be as much Brunnstrom as he could Panarin

I understand he would need waivers to play in Utica but why for the Canucks?

Martin? Hamonic? Oh god, you're one of those people. This logic is exactly like saying Buffalo should make the playoffs because they acquired Kane, ROR and Eichel. SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Definitely excited to see him come back over. I really liked his game (at least when he was playing pain-free and given ice time) when he was here the first AHL stint. Just felt he was unlucky with his injuries and with our crappy farm team at that time (which set back the development of a handful of guys, including Rödin, who might have otherwise already made the NHL). Shaping up up to be a pretty competitive training camp next season, especially at the bottom/middle of the lineup. Even more so if JB is active in free agency and acquires a couple major pieces. Most people on this board seem to forget that stint with the Wolves and how far back it set Canuck development. Two seasons of missed prospect development. billabong
He can't play this year but I'm not gonna expect much next season...he could be the next brunnstrom or brunner, but he could be a panarin or lehtera
