weareallcanucksforlife
Honestly, can't wait for the draft and free agency, but this is what I think will most likely go down. I say we pick anywhere from 1-3. I predict 2nd pick. NHL 2016 Entry Draft : Draft Patrik Laine Get rid of burrows, vrbata, and hammer. Get some cap space. Free Agency : Louie Eriksson (certain) Jason Demers (maybe) Other then that, that's what i see happening. I can't see Stamkos coming here. Line up : D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Eriksson Baertschi - Horvat - Laine Hansen - Sutter - Etem Virtanen - Granlund - Dorsett Mccann In utica, being a waterboy, and gaunce the next call up. Edler - Tanev Hutton - Tryamkin Demers - Sbisa Marky Miller What do you think?
48MPHSlapShot
Seems realistic, and seems like a pretty decent lineup. I do think we will resign Hammer to a short term contract tho.
canuck_forever
As much as I like and want Matthews I have a sneaky suspicion we get Laine. And I am perfectly fine with that.
nuckin_futz
That actually all seems pretty reasonable. Edit: Where do you see Rodin fitting in?
cripplereh
could happen but i think this off season more changes will be made.I just hope we can get a D or two that can step in!
shazzam
management needs to figure which vets to keep around to mentor the up and coming players. The rest becomes dead weight and should be moved if possible Acquire more picks/young players. Think twice about handing out long term deals to UFAs

Nucker 67
My top 4: Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Juolevi I predict Canucks pick 4th, but what Benning does could be completely different.
Outsiders
Line up : D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Eriksson Baertschi - Horvat - Laine Hansen - Sutter - Etem Rodin Virtanen - Granlund - Dorsett Edler - Tanev Hutton - Tryamkin Demers - Sbisa Marky Miller
PhillipBlunt
Line up is still too soft and will continue the long standing tradition of being manhandled.

He who used to be a Monkey, and is now (I don't know?) a guru? If we don't pick first, but have 2 or 3, should we trade down - collecting more assets - and draft Tkatchuk? Adding one of the Finns will not answer the toughness issue in our top six, but Tkatchuk would.
BCNeil
How much cash do you think it takes to sign Demers? How much to resign Hamhuis? Hamhuis really wants to stay here.
ButcherG
We also have Pedan and Larsen who are waiver eligible and need to be on the team. I doubt Hammer will be back.
2011
Alright, here is my prediction. Vancouver losses the draft and picks 8th overall. Benning surprises everyone and picks Nylander (surprise being not a defenseman, Nylander is actually a good pick at 8). Van will give very good offers to Stamkos, Lucic, and Erikson but none of the 3 sign. Van will then over offer Andrew Ladd (7+ million) and he will sign. This leads to a Burrows trade/buyout. Hammer resigns for 2 more years at the same cap hit. Van fans will be upset that Benning failed the offseason too. D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Hansen Ladd - Sutter - Virtanen Baertschi - Horvat - Rodin Etem - Granlund - Dorsett Edler - Tanev Hutton - Tryamkin Hammer - Sbisa Markstrom Miller
DownUndaCanuck
What I'd like us to do: 1) Trade Sbisa + Hansen + 2nd round pick to NYI for Hamonic - he wants to come out West, we give up a 20 minute guy + 20 goal scorer + good pick for a 22 minute guy 2) Sign Jason Demers to a 5 year 5-6M deal - 27 years old, Dallas isn't going to be able to keep all their UFA defencemen, he's a solid righty 3) Draft Chychrun at 5th-6th overall - we're not getting a top-3 forward so might as well go for Chychrun 4) Sign one of Lucic, Okposo, Ladd, Boedkker or Eriksson up front to a 3-4 year, 6-7M contract. We've got the money to splash 5) Sign any 1M 1-2 year UFA depth defenceman to replace Bartkowski and Weber Sedin - Sedin - UFA (Lucic/Okposo/Ladd/Boedkker/Eriksson) Baertschi - Sutter - Virtanen Etem - Horvat - McCann Gaunce - Granlund - Burrows Vey Edler - Hamonic Hutton - Tanev Tryamkin - Demers UFA Miller Markstrom The forwards all get much better (mainly the young ones), we have more players close to their prime than before (all the young guys get closer, the vets are really just the Sedins, Burrows, Edler and Miller who regress). Up front we get better by replacing Vbrata with a fresh UFA in his prime, and Hansen's all-round work should be replaced by the kids getting better if not moreso. Big changes on defence. We replace an ageing, bad Hamhuis with a guy like Hamonic who's in his prime, and replace Sbisa with a far better Demers.
goblix
I'd rather have Okposo than Eriksson mainly because of age, I also don't want Demers, he's good but mainly a defence guy rather than offensive type.. Benning also traded for Larsen for a reason, he obviously sees something in him so may as well see what he's got. Also think Virtanen and McCann both could use some growing up time in the AHL

I live 25 minutes from St. Malo, and more reports have come out lately as to why Hamonic requested a trade, specifically to Winnipeg. Without saying too much as to who it is, as I'm waiting for a source that's more than just those from town to town, it appears as though someone in his family has cancer and doesn't have too much time left. This would certainly explain why no trade has happened, as they are looking to deal primarily with Winnipeg.
hammertime
I think the Fundamental problem with this is that Loui is 30 will need a big time deal w term and is a quite NOW thinking acquisition. He is the prototypical elusive perfect winger for the Sedins however the focus should be transitioning from the Sedins to a future 1st line. I see granting 7+ mill x 5-6 years which is ballpark what it will cost, as somewhat of a roadblock to the future core taking the reigns. Though I have nothing against Loui he's a great player and if we did acquire him I certainly wouldn't be grabbing my torch and pitchfork. Either Fin would be a great pickup if we manage to get one Ill jump for joy, If Benning manages to get both ill be skipping everywhere I go for days. It their both off the board where we pick Id rather trade down and try to grab Serg/Juolevi and a late 1st Tage, Fabbro, Brown, Stanley.... Pears
We need to add more toughness, and if we're out on Stamkos, this is what I'd push for: Sedin - Sedin - Okposo Lucic - Horvat - Virtanen Baertschi - Sutter - Rödin Gaunce - Granlund - Hansen/Grenier Etem Edler - Tanev Hutton - Tryamkin Hamhuis - Sbisa Pedan, Biega Miller Markstrom
