nickels
Was wondering with so little money owing this yr, if some team may make a claim for Higgins if placed on waivers this late in the season. Always liked the guy, but he obviously doesn't fit in the teams plans. It would be nice to free up the 2.5m a year early. Also, could give him a chance to go on a playoff run with the right team. IMO would make a good depth forward w/playoff experience in the right situation. Rangers, Islanders, Ducks might be a good fit.
Crackers
Because he scored a goal? Doubt it.
Nd1989
prob not since hes owed 2.5 next year
theminister
Even if waived and claimed he would be ineligible for the 2016 playoffs. So... I doubt it.

Salmonberries
I can think of 2.5 million reasons why he won't.
b3.
No. His contract sucks.
Guest
No. One goal isn't going to change how anyone looks at him.
BCNeil
I don't think so. He isn't the worst forward on the ice for sure, over this long losing streak, with almost no scoring. But he hasn't done enough to draw other team's attention. The season is done anyways. We get 3 tough games first, where he won't do much, then 3 pretty much exhibition games to end the season. I don't see why anyone would want him now, for 3-6 games. Then you are stuck with him next year.
Lockhart
I'd say either him or Burrows will be bought out and then one of them will be traded with retained salary. We could trade them both if we retained salary on both but that would limit our options at next deadline since you can only have 3 players retained salary at once (Luongo)

There is nothing wrong with their contracts. They can both come in at the start of the season and compete for a role on the big team. A seventy-four million dollar payroll for a losing team should be plenty.
hammertime
Newp! Doesn't mean he's un tradable though we just have to find a trading partner who could use his services in exchange for a player that has become redundant for them but has something to offer the canucks. Like a nhl swap meet deal.
flickyoursedin
Maybe if the Canucks ate 50% of the contract. Higgins on a teams 4th line making 1.75 isn't that bad.
Gaudette Celly
Higgins will head to Utica to lead the post-season charge.
thejazz97
I can see a team like Jersey or DRW claiming him if he were put on today.
Tre Mac
He has a better chance of walking into the sea and getting clamed.

That's why there's a trade deadline - it includes waivers. Of course, players can be traded or put on waivers after the deadline but they're then ineligible so not really any use until the following season. It doesn't save enough cap space vs simply waiving him to have him not even playing for you (even if just in Utica) and available as depth. Burrows is more of a possibility as there's tangible savings but personally I hope he gets waived as well. Rather keep him in the org for mentorship, depth (and sentimental) reasons.
