Unless there's another citation, he should only be fined $4k, no?

It's based on a warning and a couple of incidents from the past.

His first warning was on February 4th against the Devils. After that, he gets $2,000 for the dive that occurred on March 12th against the Senators. In addition, he gets $3,000 for the dive that occurred March 21st against the Flames. Which all totals up to $5,000.

Ohhhh. My bad. I didn't realize he'd only had three incidents. Thanks

I just don't get how someone like Kadri, a known diver with repeated warnings and fines for that very infraction, can still get the calls. And then whine that he doesn't get enough. I guess that ref hatred based on "reputation" only applies to certain players or certain teams...

Justice sure runs quick here.  I thought Jazz had a good point, and I can't believe they would let it run that long before handing out punishment.

VC, drawing on your knowledge and exposure to league media, do you know if he was aware it was going to happen and things were still pending?  Part of the point of the escalating scale is to deter future infractions for repeat offenders, and grouping numerous punishments together does not give the player that much warning.

I'm pretty sure the league would have let Kadri know when the first incident happened. It's just that they announced it later on, by combining the two incidents - since both happened in less than a month.

These fine are a joke, they are more about public shaming than anything else, as the dollar amounts are laughable for these athletes.

Agreed. Putting their names out there is intended to shame them into refraining from futures dives. The money isn't particularly relevant.

I'm going to assume that kid from the Devils (Blandisi?) will be getting his at some point as well.

It should say something when a player who draws so many penalties, kadri, is fined multiple times in a season for diving. Would you think it will now go the other way of him getting no calls? I hope so. This guy is one of the slimest, cowardly players in the game. He hacks, slashes, and takes so many little cheap shots but runs away when someone comes calling. Remember when he had Lupul hold him back from going after Scott? Laughable as this guy is.

He's dirty and then complains the refs aren't fair. This guy is in need of a shaming but it will fall on deaf ears.

Probably because fans tend to overrate this. Just because a player dives doesn't mean that they should stop receiving any calls. It just means that they stop getting the benefit of the doubt for borderline cases.
