Wow. Huge blow to the Bolts, doesn't look like the fans will see him again till he faces the team in a different sweater.

All the best to the dude, speedy recovery.

Ya big time. Not good

Could these blood clots(seem to have really increased, recent yrs), be related to any performance-enhancing substance?

I know cortisone and anti-inflammatory steroids cause blood clots. I'm not sure if performance type steroids do the same.

Mm-hmm. You'd have to imagine such health-issues will wind up costing him a fair chunk of change. Will teams dive in now, with both dollars & term?

If you know ANYTHING about blood clots, you will realize Stamkos will be thinking of survival, and nothing else.  If a clot moves from an extremity to his heart, he's dead.  He seems a very solid young man.  I pray he will be well.

Fair point, Alf. Agree with your view on Stammer.

Athletes get them most commonly from trama ( broken bones ) things like that , and even dehydration. There are tons of reasons athletes are more prone I guess

even all the long distance travel can cause them. Definitely very serious

Blood clots have been associated with the sport for over 80 years. It's a very physical, demanding game that makes one susceptible to blood clots, either as a result of injuries, or surgeries to injuries areas. Though the data shows that athletes are no more prone to clots than your average Joe/Jane, folks tend to think it happens more to athletes...probably because of media exposure.
