TheGuardian_
Think with the big head, not the heart. Did winning the three games at the end of the season make you think this is a playoff team now.
-Vintage Canuck-
Wait until the Draft and Free Agency, at least. Way too early to tell.
razzor_2004
heck playoff team lolz they can't even tank right for gods sake. Now we have lost any chance at a top pick.
TimberWolf
Depends on what you mean. "Playoff team", "Contender" are pretty watered down terms these days much like "elite talent" Can we make just the playoffs and get blown out? Sure but we are not going to be in serious contention. That's many years away if we rebuild correctly.
Realtor Rod
Common sense says this thread shouldn't be created until the Canucks break camp in September. Draft, free agency, trades etc...
CanuckGAME
What VC said... Free agency and the draft will be what determines that. Especially FA.
Honky Cat
As someone else suggested..a bubble playoff team, quite possibly...A SC contender ..no.
Heretic
No, the end of this season is not a measuring stick on next season. That said, I believe this team could make the playoffs next year...
bobbyg43
we are no way close to a bubble team with current roster line up and I have no confidence JB will be able to work any magic in the free agency market his resume on the TDL is a tall tell of his ability to wheel an deal at the highest calibre players.he is too Green to be effective yet He will have a whole lot of growing to do in that capacity his claim to fame is his scouting an drafting .Is this gonna be enough to turn the tide? no one knows but time itself will tell the tale. The farm now needs to be restocked with fresh players for development this fall who are waiver eligible right now he stocked the club with middlers or tweeners who cannot be protected next fall when sent down an highly likely to be picked up like corrada this fall .This team is gonna fall further next year in the standings injurys or not scoring is the big no punches pulled an D is still in need of more patching . canuckledraggin
I thought this team was a wildcard team this year, but we never actually saw the team fully assembled. You can use injuries as an excuse, but this team had less than a handful of games with a roster of healthy players. Prust with a high ankle sprain that may have stopped his career. Sutter with a hernia that may have never been diagnosed. Higgin's play wasn't what it once was, the hustle was there, but the results never happened. Vrbata the same, how many times did he have a wide open net and miss or clang it off of the post? Burrows is the ultimate team player, but trying hard just isn't enough if you're not putting up points. Those are key pieces that under-performed this year. Fortunately those holes were filled by up and comers and there are plenty of bright spots as a result. Sell these young guys short all you want, but the Sedins, Hansen, Edler, Miller and the core aren't going to let these young guys accept losing. I'm stoked to see what this team puts together next year. Flip a coin because that's about all we know right now.

Erik Karlsson
If we can trade up for a top 3 pick and sign Lucic or Okposo then yes I think so. I'm also willing to bet Hutton and Tryamkin become our top pairing and Edler-Tanev our 2nd near the end of next season. Will be fun to watch Hutton and Tram after an off season of NHL training and conditioning.
MNA
D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Hansen Burrows?/FA - Sutter - Etem Baer- Bo - Jake Rodin - Granlund - McCann/Dorsett Kenins 2016 First Rounder? Vey? Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Hutton Sbisa - Tryamkin/Pedan/Biega 2016 First Rounder? Subban? Markstrom Miller Cannata (call-up) I think we are a playoff bound team if injuries don't shoot down the team. elvis15
I voted for both because the poll allowed it, but also because both could happen. We might have been a playoff team this year if it weren't for injuries. We could have still fallen short as well. Same logic applies to next year, with a team where the youth will be another year older and wiser, and we'll have moved on from some of the under-producing vets we started this season with. Now, if you'd asked if this team could be a contender next year the yes percentage would be really, really small. It's possible, but not likely.
