Ossi Vaananen
Here's the link: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/30-thoughts-concussion-case-will-get-worse-better/ Here's the section pertaining to the Canucks: Quote 3. If you missed it during the Los Angeles/Vancouver broadcast Monday night, John Shannon reported Vancouver’s position on Brock Boeser’s future has evolved. Boeser, who the Canucks selected 23rd overall last June, goes to this weekend’s NCAA Frozen Four on a high. The North Dakota freshman has 54 points in 40 games, with his play elevating to new levels as the games’ importance increased. If the forward chooses to go pro, Canucks GM Jim Benning will not stand in his way. On the same broadcast, Billy Jaffe added the Canucks are pursuing UND free-agents Drake Caggiula (a forward) and Troy Stecher (a defenceman). Caggiula is hot property, with several suitors. Last week, I mentioned Ottawa and Philadelphia among them. The Senators are still very much a part of this, but a few sources indicated the Flyers may not be. Stecher, a local boy who attended Vancouver’s development camp in 2014, told reporters his father had season tickets to the Canucks and he “dreamed” of playing there. 4. Interesting off-ice move in the organization, as Victor de Bonis moved from COO of Canucks Sports & Entertainment to CEO of Aquilini Group. (That’s the family with ownership of the club.) De Bonis was point man for the team’s business operations over much of the past decade, and it’s expected his replacement will report to him. Since the change was announced late last Friday afternoon, wild conspiracy theories followed. One was president of hockey operations Trevor Linden being promoted, allowing room for another executive somewhere on the totem pole. (The popular rumour was George McPhee, who has a tie-in with Vancouver and traded Linden back there from Washington.) I was told I have an overactive imagination, so forget that. I find this interesting and worth discussing. Canucks' changing their stance on Boeser, meaning if he wanted to turn pro he could - I thought this decision was made already by Boeser and not necessarily the Canucks. It seems we're in on both Caggiula and Stecher, and should know after the Frozen Four. I'm not sure what to make of the DeBonis promotion, it seems they're making room in Canucks management, yet again. I'm not sure Trevor has the business wherewithal just yet. Kakanucks
That's quite a promotion for DeBonis.

Provost
More free prospects is good. A guy who has chemistry to Boeser seems like a nice fit even if he is undersized. Those two pencilled in for Utica next season would make a dangerous combination.
smithers joe
they also mentioned that benning was interested in fa's...erickson, lucic and okposo...benning is to have said he wants to pick up 2 fa wingers...canucks could be much different next year... Nucker 67
I don't fully understand Boeser's position here. As for Stecher, he's a small D (5' 11" 190). Not a whole lot bigger than Subban.

SvenBae
George McPhee to handle the more day-to-day GM stuff, possibly?

MJDDawg
What's the next step for Trev in the totem pole? I guess President and CEO of the entire club and not just hockey ops. Hmmmm...probably doesn't change much for Trev.

On Stecher. for what its worth Elite Prospects seems to think highly of him: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=59042

Two would be great, but if we can make the room to get one of them (preferably Lucic or Okposo) AND Stamkos we won't be rebuilding or whatever this is for much longer. DeltaSwede
Caggiula - Matthews - Boeser I kid, I kid. Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. Would be surprised if Stecher doesn't sign at this point, it all makes too much sense.
appleboy
Drake Caggiula is the one who interests me the most. What I have read about him is interesting.
PrinceGeorgeGoon
I don't see how we land any more than one top 6 ufa. (While guys talk okposo, lucid and Stamkos. ) likely none of these. If we move on anything. I see us bringing in a young D-man. However it is done I would like to see a GM type join the organization , who has significant contract and trade experience. Benning seems to be doing pretty good at finding nice little pieces and good value (scouting) ... when it comes to contracts he might overpay and was underwelming at the trade deadline. Anyway. Linden likely moves to Coo while a president /gm like a Burke comes in.
