Odd.
Congratulations to Bo Horvat on reaching 40 pts with 1 game remaining in the regular season. Honestly though, if we ain't getting Matthews, we need to develop Horvat into a top line center. He's done so much. I would have loved of he got 10 goals, 20 assists, but he's exceeded expecations. This guy is strong on the puck, can shoot the puck, has very dirty dangles, and has tremendous speed. He's got waay more points than Kesler's second full year with the Nucks without needing about 2 years of the AHL. He's surpassed guys like Sean Couturier who's one of the best youngest 3rd line centers in the NHL. Couturier doesn't even have 40 points in a season yet. He's got more points than Ryan Johansen in both of their rookie years and +2 year. Another name can be Alex Galchenyuk, and etc. It's absolutely amazing that a 21 year old center puts up 40 pts in their second season in the NHL. If he hadn't gone 30 games without a point or a goal, he would have easily had 50+ pts. And to step in in the absence of Sutter, that's a lot to ask for itself. Oh, and to boot, he's also captain material. This guy shows his maturity on and off the ice. When he speaks to the media pre-game/post-game, he talks as if he's a 10 year veteran in the NHL. This guy needs to get the captaincy after Henrik. He leads by example. And what if we potentially top 5, we can pick a FWD that will complement Horvat (Laine, Puljujarvi, Dubois/McLeod/Nylander/Tkachuk).
SaintPatrick33
I know we gave up an all-star goalie to get him, but you are right Mr. Odd, Bo has been the one young player who I can see great things from. Detractors said he couldnt skate or stickhandle well, so what does Bo do? Start torching guys like Burns etc, perfecting the inside out toe drag, that nifty little under the stick tap and roof job versus the oilers.... Bo is the most exciting player this year, every game he creates at least a few scoring chances on individual play alone. I cant wait until year 4 for him, I think he truly breaks out then into the Captain and Man we need to lead this franchise back to respectability. wai_lai416
Bo will probably never be that top line Center but he definitely have a chance to be that top shut down Center potentially challenging for the selke every year. I'll be ecstatic if that happens top shutdown Center that can score is even harder to find and develop than a top line center
Honeydew
Bo will be that player with elite shutdown ability and still be able to put up 60 pts per season. His ceiling is definitely going at that level. Next captain after Henrik?
Kaner
Call me crazy, but I think we already have our future number one centre.
Darkstar
He's the next captain after Hank. Wouldn't mind him being a number-one centre, but I think he would better as an elite number-two centre. Great season for him on a terrible team.
khay
He could have had 50 had he not gone on that pointless streak earlier. Captain material for sure and although I still miss Schneider, having Bo makes it easier to let go.
BowtieCanuck
He's going to be an amazing player who will (hopefully) have a long, storied career as a Canuck. He's got that hockey smart that Linden did, the same level of class and plays the game with a pretty clear head. With the luck the Canucks have had in draft day trades, he's easily the best draft day trade acquisition by the Canucks

Blueberries
If you think about it Horvat would probably have close to 60 points if he had capable top six wingers. Nothing against Baertschi, but he was more of a top 9 scorer this season and I won't even mention the other guy.
Coconuts
He's definitely had a hell of a season, who knows what heights he could have hit with a little more offensive consistency? Has me excited to see what he can do next season!
Ossi Vaananen
Nice! He'll be even better next year with Sutter to take off some of his defensive assignments. I hope Gaunce is kept too and at centre, for the same reason.

Green Building
I'm having a hard time (without Googling) convincing myself that there has ever been a Selke caliber 60 point center as captain. Anyone? Okay, Selke may be a stretch. but I'd be happy if he turned into someone like an Andrew Ladd.

Based on what the coach and management want to transform him into one of the top shutdown center in the league? And what's wrong with being a top shutdown center as oppose to top line center? Shutdown center that can score at a respectable rate is harder to find than a average production 1st line center.. He's playing other teams top offensive player and still producing. Nothing wrong with that.. If you throw Horvat as your top line center.. Who's going to shutdown other teams top line as they'll probably throw their shutdown line vs Horvat and their top line against whatever shutdown line we have left
