Bobby Orr, Denis Potvin, Ekblad, Hedman, a dman the entire league talks about all year before his draft and is the best of the entire draft class, maybe next year, they will start talking about the three or four REALLY REALLY good dmen in the draft.

No doubt with the number of choices one or two could be impactful, but none are better than 6th in this year's draft.

Defence can be taught, systems can compensate, but scoring can't be taught, having the "dangle" can't be taught. That's why a kid like Vey can be outstanding in the AHL, but a borderline NHLer.

Chychrun without a doubt.

I made a far fetched prediction last spring to a buddy that Chychrun would be drafted 5th overall by the Canucks. He still has the message saved since things have got interesting over the course of the year. Of course at the time I think I predicted that we would be trading up in the draft to get him... But that's OK. Same same but different.

If their intent is to draft a D-man with their first pick, then I would rather they trade their 1st round pick for multiple lower round picks and re-stock the shelves that way.  Not saying the available players likely to be drafted first round suck, but it's all about maximizing returns, and drafting a first-rounder D-man is relatively high risk with on average moderate returns, while getting multiple picks (esp. 2nd and 3rd rounders) provide moderate risk with generally better returns.

Jesus man I just wanna see who CDC would find the best Dman to draft. Ignoring the forwards because obviously we would want the fins or matthews before them

You're bad at hypotheticals.

thats why i said assuming the canucks draft a dman. Please play along

Why would they draft a D if they are going to be potentially drafting 1-4 most likely?

Your poll doesn't make any sense because we really need a scoring forward and the only D in the top 7 is Chychrun who has a big question mark over him at present.

Assuming the Canucks draft a dman who would you like to see drafted?

I'm not sure there's a bad choice between Chrchrun and Olli Juolevi, but I like Chychrun's size - can never have enough big mobile D men imo.

The only bad choice imo for Benning to make in the 1st round is if he somehow picks Nylander.
