Where'd Luongo?
Should we pursue Caggiula? Would he want to come here? What is the likelihood of him coming here? Where would he fit into our team now?
goblix
Why not add Cagguila to your title ? If Boeser signs then I'd say it'd be an easy decision, sign a 2 year deal for both and play 1 year in the AHL with callups and then the year after you move them into a third line role. That said any player has the chance to make our roster at camp // preseason. Kids got some nice hands and seems to like buzz around the net. I also wouldn't be surprised if both Boeser and Cagguila go back for 1 more year at college.
Gstank29
Cagguila can't go back for anything year. Most likely a career AHL player unless he can crave out a spot on a third line
Ghostsof1915
He goes to Utica, lights it up there and he and Boeser can join the big club the year after. Win/win.

Or do you think Boeser will be a third liner?
slickjim23
He has just as much sway to sign in Chicago as he does Vancouver. Chicago has Schmaltz and is a top class team and organization... Plus he'd have a spot in their lineup due to their cap constraints. Highly doubt we get him.

It would be nice to know what JB is telling these guys. He's basically recruiting, even with the guys like Demko and Boeser. I hope he is a great recruiter, they do have a great opportunity here with all the turnaround. If we could get a couple really good undrafted or free agents, that would give us a lot more trade bait to work with at the draft.

I looked up Larkin's contract and Detroit had him inked to a big time ELC at maximum dollar with maximum bonuses. They even got him into the AHL playoffs - against Utica. If the guy doesn't work out its no big deal. There will always be gullible GMs that will give you a second round pick thinking you cast off is still 'real good' Go get 'em JB, you friggin country bumpkin. How was his play and how were his numbers before? Ya we got Stecher, if we get Cagguila or not makes no difference to me
kloubek
Makes no difference to you? It does to me. I would love to get Cagguila. There's an instance connection for him now with Stecher and next year likely Boeser. The guy has dramatically improved his year-to-year stats. We pay nothing for him - so *zero* risk, potential reward. All that, plus a name that can't be beat. I expect Benning is all over trying to get Cagguila here. hammertime
I don't think he has an NHL future. There is no doubt he is skilled with the puck and has a Big Show name. I would love to sign him on the basis that he would be great for utica along with Stecher and Bessy. However for his future sake he should probably sign somewhere in the east where he might get a shot in the biggs.

Ya we got Stecher, if we get Cagguila or not makes no difference to me There is always a question about a players ability when they are playing with good players alongside them. There is also questions in whether or not the league that the respective player plays in will put up will translate into the NHL. I believe the only thing you can truly take away is how he performs in situations. Meaning if he's in the corner boards is he shying away from hits and board battles, or is using body position and core strength to make a play on the puck. Does he make high risk passes in the neutral zone, chip and chase, or does he like to carry the puck in. Does he have good one on one skill. His overall passing ability, shooting ability, vision, speed and agility. Does he show good effort on the back-check, blocks shots, stay low to be an option for the defenceman. In the offensive does he drive to the net or stay as a perimeter player ? That is my assumption's on what scouts are looking for when looking at players. Anyways, Cagguila seems like a quick, skilled forward, that likes to be a bit chippy. Kinda seems like a Shinkaruk type but maybe he's better at driving to the net and winning battles along the boards. Always worth a shot seeing as we are in dying need of potential top 6 forwards. I also think that the Boeser / Stecher is a bit cute.. I mean Vey and Etem played well for a year in junior, lol

Crabcakes
I think he's redundant although that hasn't stopped Benning in the past. They already have smaller skilled wingers. Baertschi and Rodin. Add McCann to the mix. On D there is Tanev, Larsen, Stecher, Biega who are smaller besides. I'm not against having smaller players but you also need some size to counter balance. I mean 10 lbs over the league average (204). And not just 1 or 2 guys. The Canucks have Edler (215), Tryamkin (230) and who? Pedan (215). Because a smaller team will get pounded in the playoffs and worn down. This is exactly what the Flames did to the Canucks last year. That's my only argument. He's a good player by all accounts. Fair statement - though I think you underestimated some of our players. (Biega is over 200). There is certainly something to be said about having a group of undersized players - though I think it largely depends on the player. Someone like Tanev is smart enough to generally avoid the big hits, and I believe he plays stronger than his 190 lbs would suggest. Plus, 190 really isn't THAT small. It's just smaller than average. And even really legitimately small players can do well. Krug, Gaudreau as examples. In addition, McCann may end up in Utica for the year, and I'm not even convinced Rodin will be able to crack the lineup. Still, I completely agree - lack of size is why we didn't win the cup against Boston. (Besides the one-sided officiating, of course). It's not like every player has to be huge, but there should be a solid compliment on every forward and defensive line that can battle with their size.
