New York - The draft has come and gone and with it so had a Defenseman and a young in the works forward. But what that comes a first round pick and a "big" draft. The Rangers shipped away long time defenseman Marc Staal and young Nikita Scherbak as well as a 2020 2nd rd pick I'm order to acquire pick 27 from the Calgary Flames. With that pick, Rangers selected 6'5 RW Stepan Hoda (7.5A) from the Byli Tigri Liberec, Czech Republic.

"Stepan is a big boy! We pushed hard to get a 1st round pick, specifically in the latter stages as we had Hoda high up on our list. We really wanted him and we got him and we couldn't be happier. We see him fitting in to our top 6 I'm a few years time. Many compare him to Milan Lucic and we need that big bodied forward in the top 6" said Tylez.

The remainder of the draft the Rangers selected 6'6 G Libor Plihal (8.5D) from the Mlada Boleslav Jr. Czech Republic, 6'4 C Zebastian Hagg (7.0C) from Sodertalje J20, Sweden. They finished off the draft with hulking 6'7 D Hayden Black (6.5C) and 6'4 C Matt Exter (6.5C), both out of the US.

The Rangers sure showed that they would be bulking up this draft with those selections ad a  average height of 6'4-6'5.

"We are very excited to add these types of players. We are a team that doesn't want to be pushed around! Plihal we hope can develop in to a Ben Bishop with the size. Price won't be around forever and our backups will be past there prime. It will give Plihal plenty of time to develop. Hagg and Exter give us some C depth which we defiantly need for the future and Black we hope can beat the odds and maybe end up like a Tyler Myers, but we will have our work cut out with him!" Tylez said

"We hated trading a guy like Staal but we wanted our guy. Staal is aging but still plays very well. But we want to go in to FA a D be aggressive which we will do. With that said we may also give some young guys we acquired a chance. But we will see how the rest of the off season plays out."

As for the rest of the off season Tylez said he plans to snag a big FA. We will see what happens but it sounds like we may be in store for an exciting year.

Kirill Koltsov is available. He was top 10 in points for defensemen this season with 54 points, and was 2nd last season with 69, without any time on the first pairing.

Last call for any other offers. Not looking to take much cap back in return.

Anaheim Mighty Ducks Chapter 4: Fresh Flesh

In the third chapter we learned that GMMB had a massive drinking problem and ended up dead last in the league. The consolation? Sasha Mutala, a projected franchise player. GMMB hacked and slashed at the roster attempting to right was wrong.

Fast forward to season 4. Not much can be said of this new roster other than experience, or lack there of. 6 players will make their NHL debut for the Mighty Ducks.

Number one pick Sasha Mutala will enter this season as a Calder hopeful and perhaps team savior. Having come straight from the BCJHL Vernon Vipers a lot of his potential can still be considered guess work.

Top goalie in the 2016 entry draft,  Evan Fitzpatrick, has been penciled in as starter for the Ducks. Having worked on his skills in the juniors for the past 3 seasons he has become what can be considered as the next Corey Crawford. At 6'2" the big goaltender will be counted on greatly at helping this team make their way back to a playoff team. His notable skills are his positioning and reflexes.

Coming in from honing their skills with the San Diego Gulls are rookies Nick Merkley, Alexander Goulet and Pascal Laberge. They are rumored to be starting the season in bottom 6 forward lines as they make their start in NHL.

Potential star offensive defenseman Krister Andersson will make his debut as the Ducks look for more scoring on their back end.

While season 4 looks to be yet another tough go for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, they truly have the makings for a dangerous team in years to come.
