Really?   Gonna trade a Tanev or an Edler for a guy who hasn't been able to do it in this league before.  He couldn't the first time in the league.

Thats why he left for Russia.

He had a good season in a league much lower in quality than the NHL.

He has proven nothing in this league and trading away one of our best for a place in the line up for a hope and a chance with a Russian is going full retard.

I trust Benning fully, but that seems a bit fishy doesn't it? Getting rid of Sbisa and putting in a total enigmaI'm just going to trust whatever they do and critique afterwards, good or bad. If they get a good young forward for Sbisa it might be worth the gamble. I wish we could somehow get Krieder from the rags, and see him and Virt down the wings with their size and speed. Sbisa, and Columbus 2nd for Krieder. I know I sound like a homer on this trade but solid top 5 Dmen are like gold these days.

Yet a BC boy wants to play in Edmonton and not Van. Strange universe we live in. I like Stetcher I think he will be one of the first call ups for an injury. Seems like a potential Top 4 Dman if he's developed properly.

Yeaaaahhh.... I hear what you're saying. And I agree Biega would probably pass. As of now though, I'd gladly trade Sbisa+ for a higher ceiling, near ready D prospect that isn't a waiver risk.

Same depth that way but no waiver risks ::D

That and I think Tryamkin's going to earn a bigger spot than 7th D and I think he needs to play to keep getting better.

I know, he'll get playing time regardless with injuries but that's just my gut feeling on the situation.

If that were possible; I would say let's sign up.

i'm speculating teams will not give up a D who could play on the roster. But is able to be both waiver and expansion protectable?

Prob easier to speculate on who could use Sbisa? Then look for best futures opn offer...

Yeah it wouldn't be straight across.

Sbisa for a piece then that piece plus something else for the D upgrade. Or the piece we get for Sbisa makes someone else expendable and we move that existing piece, plus etc.

Hamhuis -> Gudbranson

Bartkowski -> Tryamkin
Weber -> Larsen
Biega -> Pedan

Biega first callup (clears waivers).

Certainly younger if nothing else! I'm veeery excited about watching our d-core grow this season.

Carolina is still below the cap floor. We could take back a pick, or a lower prospect.

Carolina would be a good fit. Only six dmen signed, with one as an RFA. Only two of them are over a one million dollar cap hit.

With pizzas and tacos, Carolina would be the #1 destination for 2017 UFAs.

so true and facts are he could make it but did not want to play for a bad team.I would rather trade a Tanev then lose him in the expansion draft!Edler well that spot would go to another player we want to keep,so think ahead instead of saying players can't play and you do not think they should when Benning is good at looking at skill and knows larsen has it! and that is not at you thejazz97 but at drummerboy

Edmonton chose not to qualify him, so he signed in Russia.

He was a huge liability on the blue line.

Just like he will be here.

I think offensively, he has all the skills needed to be a great pp quarterback.

I also believe our defence sucked so bad last year, that trading away our best defensive Dman in Tanev to make a spot for a guy who can't play D, is just plain stupid.

Maybe you try to clear one of 5 or 6 to make room. But that's still a maybe.

You don't trade a top 2 to make room for a 6.

Amen, the only dmen we should be trying to acquire an asset for are Sbisa / Pedan. The blueline is too crowded as it sits right now.

Tryamkin in trusted & played better than Pedan at the tail end of last year. Which makes him expendable. With the addition of Gudbranson & Tyamkin on the back end. Sbisa's physicallity becomes a little bit expendable.

way I see it is this,if Tanev and Edler were 1 and 2 top pairing D men then we will still be in BIG trouble if we keep them both and since Edler will be protected unless traded then Tanev the only other guy that could get us a good return then you must not if but MUST trade him.Gudbrason and Tramkin will be better shut down guys as Trymakin showed last year he has the skills,Grudbrason will be in the top pairing!I don't know how long you have watched hockey but I can say you ar right about our D sucking but this is a new year and we got pieces that will be better but we still have two to many D and one a big one should be traded to get what we need!

I've been a Canucks fan since I was a baby.     I'm 30 in a month.   So I have been watching for a couple years.

 I played until Midget.  I have a general idea of the game.  Lol.

I agree with those two as our top 2 we are in trouble.  I agree we have a log jam.  I disagree with your solution to the problem tho.

I wouldent trade Tanev just to make room.

Id trade him as a package for an upgrade tho.

Edler gets a bad rap, but he is a great dman.  Just not a 1 or 2.

I would trade him if possible, but again, not to make room for Larsen (who needs to prove he is an NHL dman) but to package for something better.

I understand and what you are getting at, but I can't agree.   Lol.

we will agree to not agree then,lol I just know people I talk to about the way the team is going and what we have most who have been canucks fans for 40 plus years and some younger people who have played and so on, agree fully with me and for that I am happy.not everyone will always agree but atleast we both have ideas of making the team better and for that i am more happy cause we both agree on one thing, something has to happen!!!!

He chose to not be part of the tire fire of a team that held his rights and go play in Europe instead. At best, I'll give you that it may have been a somewhat mutual decision.

I was foggy remembering his situation and why he left Edmonton.  So i researched it.

He played like pooh.  His best part of the season he was playing on the wing.

Total defensive liability.

They weren't going to qualify him, so he took his half deflated ball and went home.

I really hope he fixed his game and works out for us, but I don't want to put our eggs in his basket and look silly.

The entire team played/was coached like 'pooh' and his usage was highly questionable. He could clearly see he was better off developing elsewhere than a poorly managed, tire fire.

I don't blame the guy one bit for getting the duck out of fodge.

I don't blame him either, but you can't ignore the fact that he was bad enough that he couldn't get a contract from Edmonton.

They suck that bad, and they didn't want him.  He couldn't make them any better.

Again, let's hope he turned that around.
