b3.
Quote Jonas Hiller is heading home. The Switzerland native and former Calgary Flames goaltender signed a three-year deal with EHC Biel-Bienne of the National League A on Tuesday. Hiller, 34, struggled this season for the Flames. In 26 games, Hiller went 9-11-1 with a 3.51 goals-against average and .879 save percentage. STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS: First Round Series Previews | Broadcast Schedule Stanley Cup Playoffs Fantasy Hockey Calgary general manager Brad Treliving said at his year-end press conference that Hiller would not be returning to the club next season. EHC Biel finished last in the NLA and allowed a league-high 175 goals. Hiller played seven seasons with the Anaheim Ducks before joining the Flames for the last two years. He also represented the Ducks at the 2011 NHL All-Star Game. Hiller, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, earned $4.5 million over the last two seasons with Calgary. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/jonas-hiller-signs-three-year-deal-ehc-biel/
kloubek
Good thing I'm not GM, as I thought Hiller was a better choice than Miller when they were both available. (Based on their salary).

Wilbur
Wow, didn't take long to make that decision. I guess he figured trying to find another NHL team wasn't worth it.
SedinMadness
not really a terrible goalie. He stopped the canucks in the playoffs. and in many other season games.

I didn't see the comments when we signed Miller pertaining to this. In fact, I thought I was in a relatively select group who believed he was the better choice. I was going by his stats. Never placed under .91 in any season for Anaheim. Given he was only 4.5m and Miller was 6, plus Miller's year with St. Louis was pretty questionable, it seemed like a no brainer to me. And I would have continued to feel that way if we got Hiller and he played like his first year in Calgary. .918 is pretty darn good.

GB5
Seemed like Hiller had the Canucks number a lot during his career. He did well in North America so hpe his return home goes well. I won't miss his goalie masks though...they were always terrible IMO.

Chris
I still say he was the 2nd best goalie during the 2010 Olympics;he just didn't have as much of a team in front of him. Hope he and his family enjoy their time in Switerzland
Chalky
I wonder if his vertigo was hampering his negotiations with NHL teams. I can see the draw with playing at home in Switzerland as well.
Coconuts
Weird, I thought he'd won a cup for some reason. Must have confused him with Bryz. He'll do just fine heading home to play though. I mean, it's Switzerland.
