Nuxfanabroad
Not reading that(I'll take a rain-cheque). Bloody cop-out, in the title alone. Pass. Guy was lucky, with the opportunities he had from the get-go. Poor sporting journalists..stuck in the same bubble, where they must dredge up the same ol' boring tripe, to make us care about "iconic", self-obsessed dullards. Down by the River
"Tiger and Earl held strong opinions about how things should work and nursed deep stubborn streaks, so they often butted heads. The most serious rift between them, which festered for years, centered on Earl's love for women. Tiger hated that his dad cheated on his mom and cried to his high school girlfriend about it. His parents never divorced but moved into their own houses, and the only reason they still needed to communicate at all was their son's rising golf career; like many overachieving kids in a broken home, Tiger found early on that his talent could help create the family he wanted. He could mend the broken places inside all of them. It's also clear that Tiger grew up first emulating his dad and then trying to be better than Earl. All sons, whether they love or hate their fathers, or some combination of both, want to cleanse themselves of any inherited weakness, shaking free from the past. This is certainly true for Tiger, whose father seems to evoke conflicting emotions: The best and worst things that have happened in his life happened because of Earl." Oh for Pete's sake... Jack Fig
I'll read the article later. In my mind, it will always be like this: he had it all, the extreme talent, the charisma, the records, the money, the lifestyle, the gorgeous blond wife, children.....and it still wasn't enough. Seeing this, the gods grew angered and started taking these things away from him. When having it all isn't enough, then what would satisfy you? Shift-4
You won't catch me shedding any tears for him. I loved watching his talent on the golf course but there is a recurring theme when you here people talk about Tiger the person Spoiler He is a &^@#ing asshole. Nuxfanabroad
Moral of the story is stick with what yer good at. For example, if Ron Jeremy started skipping work commitments due to a golf-obsession, would we ever forgive him?! (& his Missus would likely freak!) Down by the River
Being attractive and having a nice smile is too often mistaken for charismatic. The stories in the article about his time spent with Military Seals suggests that this was a guy wanting to be a 'man's man', but didn't know how to play the part. Blue Jay 22
I read it....definitely worth the time. From what I got from that was, even in Tiger's Golden Years, his life outside of golf was all just a lie. I remember the day the scandal was announced like it was yesterday. The crash, hospital, reports, the press conference....that was truly the end of Tiger Woods.

Bruce Boudreau
Basically his life ended when his father's did. Everything he did and how he behaved with money and in his interest in the Navy Seals was because of his father. He was lost but is now trying to find meaning being a stay at home dad... Obsessive, has problems sleeping. Generally a weirdo because he was an introvert forced to be extroverted to maintain his public persona and he was living a lie and is friends with Derek Jeter another athlete with a good public image who still has many sexual conquests but wasn't dumb like Tiger to get caught cheating or be married.
