kazin!
Recently broke the mirror and housing on my passenger side. 2012 Civic. Power windows, heated. Has anyone ever replaced it? DIY? A shop? How would I best go about doing this? Any help would be great!
elvis15
My first suggestion would be to find a Civic forum and ask there, and it's probably the best one. Here's an example of what you'll find already existing on the web rather than trying to reinvent the wheel: http://www.9thgencivic.com/forum/sedan/7951-how-replace-side-mirror-assembly.html
Ghostsof1915
Go to a regular body shop recommended by Honda, or if they are set up to handle the claim the dealership. The body shop will probably contract it out. Depends on your deductible and how it happened. If it's below your deductible call around. I've heard some mirrors cost $1000 to replace, so even a $300 deductible is a huge savings.
Gstank29
Best thing to do is go to the auto wreckers around where you live and see if they have one. If they don't then you can always try contacting a Honda dealer, but I would think that will cost a pretty penny
Kragar
If you're looking for parts, the shopping carts on either side of the Lions Gate might have some freebies for ya! More seriously, best of luck.

SabreFan1
Just get a Haynes repair manual and a half decent aftermarket mirror/assembly from eBay and do it yourself. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Power-Smooth-Black-Side-View-Mirror-Passenger-Right-RH-for-12-13-Honda-Civic-/131594765878?fits=Year%3A2012|Make%3AHonda|Model%3ACivic&hash=item1ea3a8c636:g:9eYAAOSwp5JWZqYf&vxp=mtr

RRypien37
Go to look at Japanese junk yard/parts shop and look up install on youtube. Pretty sure its just simple plug and play in terms of wiring and taking of a few plastic components and/or door panel.

But if it saves $350 then why not.

Almost all vehicles are the same, you just take that corner cover off, probably has 3 screws and then a wire for the power function. You may have to remove the paneling to get to that one wire. It is an easy job to do, I bet there are tons of youtube videos for civics that will show you step by step. Note: if you going to a junkyard you may have to get it painted if you cant find the right color.

Two babes = double the age! Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out www.car-part.com and see if there's anything nearby. I'd like to do it myself, but a little worried as I'm not the handiest of guys, unless we're talking long showers. I've been quoted $200 ($150 parts, $50 labour) by a local mechanic. Is that typical? Kazin, taker of the long showers... that price is pretty reasonable, I am assuming he will be getting you a new mirror that is color matched to your vehicle. He will charge minimum one labour plus parts because its an easy job to do. Fair offer if you do not feel comfortable good sir.

Pull out the inner door panel (easy to do. Don't lose the screws.), peal back the plastic, unscrew the nuts from the mount, unplug the small single power wire harness. Then reverse those steps to install the new one.

I was quoted $130 to get the damn thing painted to match. I'd rather pay $150 for the above guy to get the part direct from Honda in the colour I want, and new. Thanks for the help everyone! Painted and a new OEM part to boot! Good thing you popped onto CDC and asked about it.
