He's currently a prospect of St. Louis, and it doesn't look like they're going to sign him. He's a small, skilled forward (5'9" 185lb). He missed this season with an injury, but put up nearly 80pts every season since he jumped to the WHL full time. Has anybody watched him play for Kootenay personally that knows more than I do? I think he'd be an interesting pickup for the Canucks, even if just to pad Utica. Seeing as he was drafted in the 5th round, I can't imagine it would take more than a 6th to get him.

I lived in the Kootenays for many years and got to see him play. He was a good player with the right line mates. But with that being said he played a lot with Sam Reinhart and I mean A LOT. Top line with Reinhart, top powerplay with Reinhart. With Sam being a very good playmaker it wasn't hard for Jaedon to put up very good numbers. I bet if he played the full year with Kootenay his numbers would have been a lot different. My best guess is that he will be a middle six forward in the AHL at best or spend many years floating around European leagues. Nothing really that noteworthy to say or anything that really stands out. He can shoot the puck, there's no doubt about that, but when you have Sam Reinhart setting you up it isn't going to be very hard to put lots of rubber in the net.

Key word I saw is small. If he's been injured in the WHL a lot how is that going to translate to the pros where it is generally bigger, stronger and faster. Taking risks on these smaller type players especially in the west is a huge risk in my mind. To compete with the other Pacific division teams I feel we need the bigger and stronger type model to follow. I'm not saying just get a bunch of redwoods out there but get skilled stronger assets as it seems injury was a big issue this year and it won't get any easier looking at the direct competition.
