So various reports are showing Lucic might be days away from staying in LA (http://blogs.theprovince.com/2016/04/24/time-to-dump-those-lucic-to-the-canucks-dream-reports-indicate-kings-extension-close/).

I want his skill set - size, toughness, RW with the Sedin's, but he also seems to be one of those home town guys that hates the market he grew up in.

So whats the best choice now for the top line RW?

Erikkson or Okposo if we don't end up landing a top 3. I like both players mentioned, and think they would mesh well with the Sedin's.

I could actually have chosen 3 options there...

"keep Hansen with the Sedin's"... But more so to spend our UFA money on a top 4 defenceman.

The 3rd option was praying for Laine. I think everyone who's a Nux fan is doing that lol

I'd love it if we could land Okposo but he seems pretty happy where he is and the Islanders have done a great job on salaries, so there's a lot of room to lock him up to a large deal. Loui would be a nice fit though - not a physical line but they would be pretty tough to keep off the score sheet.

Love Eriksson, but you'd think he'd go somewhere closer to winning. Okposo too - but at least he's younger.

We're in for a couple more years of non-contending, so why not stay the course and get some good picks in 2017 too?

Eriksson isn't a winner in my personal opinion.

Okposo is good, but I don't think he'll come here and if he does he will be overly expensive. I would be happy to have him though.

Hansen's value is inflated right now, could be a good trade chip if we want to go that route at the draft.

Lucic said he would be interested in coming here last year so I don't think he hates the Canucks anymore after our changes.

Virtanen hasn't earned his shot on the first line, but I sure like the idea just because I want him to be good.

I'm pretty high on Okposo myself. I thought at some point this season that he or the Islanders made it clear he wasn't going to get an extension from them? Obviously though, plans can change on the fly and he could end up being signed again but I would love to see him in blue and green.

Lucic never was the best choice.

That was and is Okposo imo.  He's a big, fleet footed winger that is excellent in the hard areas and has that right-handed release that is so opportune with the Twins.  He's also a decent two way player and a good fit in terms of age/demographic.

Eriksson imo is a better fit for the Sedins on international ice, but like Vrbata, won't bring enough size, grit, speed, forecheck, front-of-the-net, spacemaking for the Sedins in this league, in this division.  He's a very good two way player - I like him alot - but as a fit for the Sedins I just don't think he brings a couple crucial elements, and is a left-handed shooting RW as well, which is not ideal either.  He might make a great addition for the 2nd line - can't rule that out - but I'm not sure they should be looking to add 30 yr old FAs - and Benning himself stated a soft-cap at 28 in the media availability.

For me, it's Okposo or don't bother.  We have Honey Badger - and we have a pair of outstanding, big right wing prospects on the way - but if Okposo is interested in feasting off Sedinery and smoked salmon - and joining a club on the verge of a serious uptick, he should express himself on the West Coast.

Yes need more assets in the system right now. Stay the course and see at trade deadline what we can get for picks for the upcoming free agents. If we are going to rebuild do it right and not make the mistake that you can rebuild on the fly.

I agree about Lucic, in that he would be very expensive. Also, knowing he wants to remain a King for the rest of his career, why would you want to bring a player pining for another team into the locker room? I can see Benning throwing his hat into the ring for Stamkos, Lucic, Eriksson or Okposo. Don't think any one of those will pan out though. I can see perhaps a Teddy Purcell or David Perron. Lowering my expectations.

Hey... Lucic can go on record all he wants and state that he wants to remain in LA. The thing that catches me is that I'm thinking that LA doesn't share the same love. Here is a guy saying all of the right things and probably take a discount yet LA .....STILL hasn't signed him? Why would LA not sign him to get that order of business out of the way?

Here is my alternative to Lucic.....

Yes, until they announce the deal, who knows? Does LA want him back, does DS want him back?  Good thing is, there is plenty of time for it all to fall apart before July 1st.

Want nothing to do with Ladd.
