brian42
If the Canucks end up with the 2nd or 3rd overall and want both fins what could get it done? if Edmonton gets 2 or 3 would Tanev or elder plus Virtanen and McCann get it done? if any other team has 2 or 3 would Virtanen McCann and Hansen get the deal done? If the canucks are outside of top 3: 4/5/6 overall plus virtanen or McCann and 33 overall for 2nd overall. Would you do this? Would another team do this? Toews
No and this discussion is pointless. Any team in that position will absolutely gut the Canucks of their assets for that pick. It isn't worth it. No team has traded a top 5 pick in the cap era excluding moving up or down. The Seguin pick doesn't count as it's position was not known when it was traded. Aladeen
If Canucks got first overall Arizona Second and Edmonton 3rd I could see it as a very remote possibility something along these lines: To Canucks: 2nd OA, 3rd OA (Gets Replacement for Twins) To Arizona: 1st OA, 1st Round Pick 2017 (Van), 2nd Round Pick 2017 (Edm) (Gets Auston Matthews + Picks next year) To Edmonton: Tanev(or Edler if he would waive), Gaunce, Nick Merkley, 37 OA (Gets Good steady shutdown D, Some Size up the middle and an Alberta Born RW Prospect + another pick in this draft) Canucks Give Up: 1st OA, 1st 2017, Tanev, Gaunce Arizona Gives Up: 2nd OA, Nick Merkley, 37 OA Edmonton Gives Up: 3rd OA, 2nd Round Pick 2017

Had you said No team has traded a top-4 pick, you would have been right

ItsMillerTime
Guys its most likely toronto will be in the top 3. They would not like to trade it. Edmonton would most likely trade down to 4 but who would want to give good prospects to Edmonton. It will hurt your team. Then Arizona has like a 5 percent chance of getting it or something. No way this is happening.
