Who has the MOST skill at No.5?

Well get over it - were picking 5th overall. We had a statically lousy season ever and likely another one this approaching season.

The team needs more high end skill; and it doesn't appear there is a consensus number 5 pick.

Tkachuk

Dubois

Juolevi

all fit the no 5 range - so who has the MOST skill out in that draft range?

Dubois - he's a late/draft climber he's big but is size everything? Is his point tally due to playing in the Q?

Tkachuk - is he the benefactor of Marner?

Juolevi - is he fit for the west/division? Too soft/too similar to Hamhuis?

Bean/Chychrun/Brown/Jost - does it make sense to drop down and get another pick or prospect and draft one of these 4 who may have more high end skill?

The draft now appears more intriguing than ever.

I think Tkachuk is definitely a guy to go for.  Sure people can say that he's a benefactor of Marner, but 107 points in 55 games is pretty impressive.

I think most importantly,

His mentality is solid.

Something that this team has been lacking for a while.

At forward.

Offensively Dubois.

In the tough areas Tkachuk.

At defense.

Offensive prowess and smartest Juolevi

Complete and best skater Chychrun.

If you're looking for most high end skill in offensive zone then Juolevi or Dubois.

Dubois and Tkachuk.  Stay away from Chychrun as he has the highest bust potential.  He isn't dropping like a rock for no reason.

He's been steady all year. He hasn't fallen due to his play at all.

Sergachev has the highest bust potential

Only reason he fell is because players like Tkachuk, Dubois and Juolevi have risen considerably from where they started. Even Serg has risen, he still could be a huge bust but has high upside.

Yeah, but a guy who was touted to possibly challenge matthews for 1st last year and be the clear cut best dman, no longer is either and that's scary.  His stock has just been falling since the start of the year. You can spin it that other players rose, but then he shouldn't have let those players rise above him if he was living up to the early hype.  Just too risky to take him 5th.

He has taken strides this year. You cannot doubt that but look at the facts.

People seem to forget his season was ended last year and had to get shoulder surgery. Missed the Playoffs and the Ivan Hlinka. Also missed the WJC this year(Due to wanting to play for Team Canada). He didn't exactly have the same opportunities to show off his potential as other players

Match that off with 2 Fin becoming the undisputed top 2 and 3 pick and other players around also rising then you can understand why he has fallen.

His play has been fine all year, improved a lot compared to last year. Ran into some setbacks and players around him had the opportunity to show off more and got better.

PLD has the most upside at #5.

He can be the most complete guy. The most balanced. But he doesn't have an edge on something that makes him special. Good shot, good puck protection, average skating, good physicality, good IQ... But he has not the shot of Tkatchuk, not the speed and hands of Nylander.

getting a top 3 is nice, but you don't need any work to get a good pick. Out of top 3, JB will earn his paycheck. A bust will set the team back further, a great pick will lead to a speedier rebuild. Will be interesting if they trade with oils or oils trade down with another team, say AZ.

Alex Nylander has the most "skill" at No.5.
