(Y/N) Drafting A Dman @ 5, Trading for Yakupov

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if people would be on board for a scenario like this.  A trade with EDM involving Hutton and Yakupov.  Canucks draft Chychrun and hope he can step into 2nd pairing minutes.

Good or bad?

no way, do not give up the most developed/best player in a trade, that is an automatic loss. Yakupov is a bust, chychrun has high, high bust potential. Hutton on the other hand has 1D potential.

The trade I would do is to move our pick for a more developed player. I like Tkachuk and I think Dubois is ok but thoughts on:

To ANA

5th

Hansen

To VAN

ANA 1st

Shea Theadore

Julis Nattinen

is this a joke?  Yak scored 8 goals this season.  I wouldn't trade 4 th rounder for him

You could turn trade declines off in nhl16 and it still wouldnt go through.

That is so terrible for Anaheim.

I wouldn't be opposed to that framework of a deal.  Certainly a bit of a risk but not as bad as all the homers might have you believe.  Hutton is already established but I still believe in the right situation that Yak has a higher ceiling.  And playing with the Sedins seems to be the right situation for many players.  But I think there are lots of trade opportunities with the Oilers.  They are looking to get better faster and we have aging assets to deal.  I'd be seeking to deal Edler for some of their young core group (RNH, Draisaitl, 4th overall 2016?)  I think the draft pick is an independent decision.

what forwards do they have coming up who can be 1st liners, plus Tkachuk is american. they have rekell and silver berg but Tkachuk would blow those guys out of the water

Ritchie, and it doesn't matter. That package is still terrible.

didn't Jensen score 17 goals in SHL - it was draft year + 2 though hmmm

the more I think about it, the more I like tkachuk and think he could be a big time player, probably come into the NHL in the draft +1 or draft + 2 yr. He is not small at 6'1 195 and is a good skater from a program that is probably the most NHL like program in junior

You can put Hansen on a top line, but that doesn't make him a top line player.  Is that confusing?

I'd love to see an Edler trade. He's good enough to fetch a good return, though I don't think we'd get Draisaitl for him.

Yak on the other hand I know he has a higher ceiling than we are seeing, but since he asked for a trade I can guarantee every team is going to low ball Edmonton for him. Trading Hutton for him is paying way too much. Edler on the other hand could get Yakupov and a mid-round pick in my opinion.
