[Discussion] Burke is feeling truculent again - is there a trade opportunity?

Recommended Posts

So according to Sportsnet, Burkie is feeling truculent again and wants to make Calgary "black and blue" :-)

Do we have any assets to send his way to help him on his way to turning Calgary into Toronto 2010 that we could turn into another 2nd round pick? I don't think we have a package to get the 6th pick out of them this year but if Burke is feeling frisky who knows?

as long as prusts wife see's it as a good fit in cowtown i have no problem with a trade there. i don't believe we're short on pucks  ,maybe a few water bottles

Prust is a UFA. Maybe Dorsett but Benning loves what he brings. There aren't many candidates on the Canucks that fit the definition of what Burke is looking for.

unless it resembles a baertschi type deal anything that helps them get "truculent" would just be wrong. burke can burst into" flames "for all i care.

I was thinking more down in Utica... I was also just shaking my head at the story too and goofing around. Well, the firing of Hartley makes a lot more sense now, at least in terms of why they did it.

Swap firsts with them so they ensure they get a forward, one of Tkatchuk or Dubois. we pick a D-man and pick up a 2nd or middling prospect.

Burke will get one of Tkachuk or Chychrun. And I am sure he believes he will win the draft with either one. As do I.

Well, I'm sure they'll be willing to take more of our promising first rounders for 4th liners.

I dunno, Boeser for Bollig?

I just want you to know I gave you a +1 for laughs.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the Flames as being good trading partners with us at the moment.

Yeah me neither.

Like whom? It has to be someone who is not only NHL ready but can provide a significant impact. I just don't see it. I think they are looking for a guy like Kirby Rychel.

Not sure - that's why I was putting it out there to see if someone more familiar with Utica had any ideas that might work. Sounds like the cupboard is dry though on Burke's dream, at least with us.

Why are people always mocking Burke about wanting a truculent team? LA/SJ/ANA/STL are all truculent teams and they've had a lot of success in the west for the past few years. What's wrong with wanting a team like that? That's the team I want here in Vancouver. Skill, speed, and heavy bruising hockey throughout the lineup. Nothing wrong with that.

Probably not, simply because of being in the same division.

However, Flames have an embarrassment of riches at our weakest position. Giordano, Hamilton, Brodie, Wideman, Jokipakka, Kylington, Andersson, Kulak, Sieloff... They have to dump cap too. Could see them paying a premium to have a team take Wideman off their hands.

I feel that the only point where the Flames might receive some half decent value for Wideman would be at the next TDL.

He'll have less than $2M left on his contract at that time and would probably waive his NMC for a play-off team..

Id rather overpay Demers this offseason then trade for Wideman

If Burke is having some male menopause hot flashes and wants to fire-sale some of his less physical talent, I say by all means.

I'd take Sam Bennett if the price wasn't too high, he is a decent 3rd line center who will put up 20+ goals for a lot of seasons.

I'd take him for a 2nd rounder any day.  :)
