[Proposal] Offer Sheet Seth Jones

Recommended Posts

With Columbus being roughly at $67mil and needing 5 more players to round up their line-up, including Jones.....I wonder if Benning would have the stones to do such a thing.

Being a 21yr old mammoth defender, and RHS to boot......he WILL become a top defender eventually and grow into his money

On top of drafting Tkachuk or Dubois, this team would be pretty good next year.

The cost would be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd

If Benning can aquire a few picks to make up for that then I'm ok with that price

Edler/Tanev

Hutton/Jones

Tryamkin/Sbisa

Pedan

That's quite a decent young blueliner for many many years to come and with guys like Stecher, Subban in the fold and Larsen, Biega as depth

Just a thought.....

I don't see JB as an offer sheet guy, he is more of the old boys network type of GM who wouldn't destroy a bunch of relationships by doing it.

It serves us better not having a GM that the other GMs can't stand.  We do have to make trades with teams other than Florida.

Offer sheets are fun though

They might not have a choice.

67mil on 19 players.....

They still need to sign Laine or Puljujarvi which is roughly 3mil.

But that means we gotta entice him over 29 other teams.

Since the 2004-05 lockout, seven restricted free agents have signed offer sheets, and only one player has changed teams as the result of an offer sheet: Dustin Penner prior to the 2007–08 season. Penner is also the only player since 1997 (Chris Gratton) to change teams via an offer sheet).[6] The risk invested in real and cap dollars along with the negative reaction to an offer sheet has led to the act of signing an offer sheet becoming rare under the current CBA.

Wikipedia.

So basically all you are doing is raising the price on players, and making it harder to sign your own guys.
