As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. “Jaromir is a Hall of Fame player and had an excellent season playing alongside Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau,” Tallon said. “His track record speaks for itself, ranking third all-time in points and goals. He has been a great fit with our organization and we are excited to have him back for next season.” “Jaromir has had a tremendous influence on our younger players and has been a key offensive contributor on our team,” Panthers Head Coach Gerard Gallant said. “We are happy to have him back as we look to build off this year’s playoff appearance.” The 44-year old Jagr led Florida with 66 points (27-39-66) in 79 games this season, while recording two assists in six Stanley Cup Playoff games. During the 2015-16 season, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound native of Kladno, Czech Republic passed Gordie Howe (1,850) to claim third all-time in points and passed Brett Hull (741) to claim third all-time in goals, while also becoming only the sixth player in NHL history to reach 1,100 assists, the fifth player to reach 200 postseason points and 10th player to reach 1,600 NHL games. This season Jagr served as captain of the Atlantic Division team at the 2016 NHL All-Star Game in Nashville, Tenn., marking his 10th NHL All-Star Game appearance. Jagr was also named a finalist for the 2016 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy awarded to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. The 22-year NHL veteran has recorded 1,868 points (749-1,119-1,868) in 1,629 regular season NHL games for Pittsburgh, Washington, New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, New Jersey and Florida. Jagr registered 15-straight 70-plus point seasons from 1992 to 2008, which stands as an NHL record. He earned 50 or more points in 18 consecutive seasons, before recording 35 points during the 48-game 2012-2013 season. After eclipsing the 50-point plateau in 2013-2014 by registering 67 points with New Jersey, Jagr again surpassed 50 points in 2015-16 marking the 20th time he has reached the mark in his career. Jagr won back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991 and 1992 and has recorded 201 points (78-123-201) in 208 NHL playoff games. Jagr was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the first round (fifth overall) of the 1990 NHL Draft. On the international stage, Jagr has represented the Czech Republic in five Winter Olympic Games, winning a Gold Medal in 1998 and a Bronze Medal in 2006. He also represented his country at two World Cup of Hockey tournaments, the 1991 Canada Cup, 10 World Championships (including 2015) and the 1990 World Junior Championships. Ossi Vaananen Posted May 5, 2016 Share Posted May 5, 2016 Respect. From what I found, his base salary and bonus are the same. I don't think it's financial incentive anymore though. I kind of want to see him throw down with someone, just to see if 'old man strength' is a thing. Florida is the best place for him, young and skilled linemates with guaranteed success. Also waiting for the Bobby Orr crowd to chime in as well That being said, I think what Jagr is doing is quite remarkable. Todays NHL players are much more even skill wise across the board, hard to rack up easy points these days and Jagr still led his team in scoring. Dont get me wrong, Gordie is one of the greats, but I gotta give Jagr some love for showing these kids how to train and still be on top at his age. It seems so long ago now that he played for Boston, and at the time I mistook his not really fitting in with their system as the signs of the end of his career.
